I've noticed that I complain a lot. It mostly happens when I'm in a bad mood. It's a habit that I can't get out of it. What I wanted to ask is having a mental health disorder an excuse to be negative? Sometimes I can't help it. Sometimes I feel like I feel really good about myself. Any suggestions on how I can beat this negative/complaining cycle. Thank you

I tend to be like that too. I think it's an actual "part" of my CPTSD and GAD. Is it an excuse? No. I consider it a symptom that I often struggle with.
I have done some work with mindfulness and grounding, that seems to curb my anxiety etc that usually proceeds a "negative episode", and I also listen to music a lot at work to mask myself from what's going on around me. This does seem to help some.

Everyone can get caught up in the Negative Game. Complaining can indicate a need for psychological support. Get in touch with what you really want for your self in order to avoid the blame game.

It's a good first step, being aware of the negativity. Now you can work on the self talk that often goes hand in hand and start catching yourself before you complain. Like Reb said, it's not an excuse but often is a symptom. A symptom you can control now that your aware of it.
