I am trying to get myself to be more productive and have done a little reading on the Internet about decision fatigue and how to counter it. I’ve taken to laying my clothes out for the next day, and sometimes the entire week on Sunday evening. I’ve also packed my gym bag the night before and set it out in plain sight so I’m sure that I get it in the morning. On running days I have even worn my running shorts under my slacks for work. Has anyone else ever tried to reduce their decision fatigue before? Did you have success?

I tend to fall short on maintaining a routine where clothes are laid out the night before. Fortunately, it's uniforms for both myself and my kids so the decisions are rather limited. One routine of preparation that I have maintained involves the laundry being bagged and my supply bag readied the night before so that I can just wake up and go.
I fully understand the not wanting to think about things in the morning. And realized what you mean about decision fatigue as it is something that I realized must occur after my first time outsourcing my grocery shopping and a few items were in need of substitution or were unavailable. At that moment, I considered why I find such shopping exhausting ...decision fatigue fits that thought that I had that day.

I think it can work in theory but there are so many decisions that a person has to make in a day that cannot be planned in advance. I missed the gym tonight after a rough day at work. I just went straight to coffee shop here in town grabbed a sandwich and went home. Two things contributed to this I think, 1) I was really hungry after work and 2) I had kind of a hard day, it still takes discipline.
