How can one know if they are being paranoid? I’m worried about some people and whenever I express my concerns to them they tell me that they’re all “safe” and yet at the same time make fun of me for being paranoid... I’m just wondering in this certain case, does it sound like the “paranoia” is justified? What’s the difference between justified and unjustified paranoia? Thanks, if you answer.

Paranoia might not be the right word for what you are experiencing. It sounds a little like just plain old anxiety to me.

It is hard for me to tell from the details you have provided.

Look at their track record? If you have known someone for a long time and they have been trustworthy on many occasions then try to consider that in your calculation. It is wise to distrust to some extent people who you are just becoming acquainted with. Hope this explanation helps.
