Does anyone deal with this? I’m not sure if it’s relevant to anxiety or ptsd... but there are many times where i feel stressed or just so overwhelmed wuth something that i kind of have an “out of body” experience... i kind of let my body go about my routine/daily tasks while my mind wanders if that makes sense. I’ve had moments where I come “back” and cant remember if i did a thing like turning the light off in a room, or if I idk locked a door, or where i put things. I lose things a lot and idk if its because i have bad short term memory recall or because i get into these “autopilot” states and do things and when i refocus i cant remember moving them.

That sounds kind of like dissociation to me. Mild version of it, but still dissociation. I lose things a lot and "forget" if I locked the door or turned off the light also. It's more that the memory was never planted in the first place. It's kind of hard to explain.

Here's a good explanation of what it is...

Dissociation FAQs - ISSTD

Hope this helps. As always, check with your pdoc or T, if it's really concerning you or bothering you.

What you've described is dissociation. It might be affecting your life more than you realize it is. There are a number of causes of dissociation...yes, it can certainly be anxiety...but there are so many causes of anxiety.

Have you considered speaking with a mental health professional/

I used to, but it became too expensive. I’ve tried a few.

If you're in the U.S. you have some options. Medicaid, sliding scale, even free or close to free clinics.

I feel that way too most of the time. Can it lead to a worse state if untreated?

In my own experience, yes- absolutely.
