I keep smelling this real nasty blood smell. I started smelling it on Monday. I’ve done laundry and taken showers everyday. I have no idea what it is but it’s really gross. Any ideas on what it could be? I know my nose has been running a lot and I’ve been sneezing a lot, but I haven’t had any bloody noses.

Can you narrow it down to an area? Could it be an injured animal trapped somewhere?

Werent you on birth control pills for a real long time and just recently got off? Maybe its your womanly hormones coming alive again? Have you been having periods? Maybe its your sense of smell is heightened? I used to be very sensitive to noise before my period.

Have you been dealing with any Impossible Burgers or Impossible products? What about anything with copper?

I notice it when my nose is running and my head is down. I haven’t encountered any impossible burgers or products. I smell it real bad right now. I just took my antibiotic half an hour ago and the cat is right by me but there’s no trapped animals. My nose is running right now and I’m sitting with my head kind of down looking at my phone. I got my period a few weeks ago and I should be getting another one pretty soon in the next few days I’d assume.

So, any where you are, you notice it when your nose is running and your head is down. So, it could be coming from your nasal cavities or somewhere around there? Could it be connected to why you are taking anti-biotics?

I’m taking antibiotics for a cellulitis infection. But my nose has been running a lot this year and I’ve had a couple sinus infections. I’m just worried it’s something dangerous.

Ok. I understand that. Have you called your doctor's office to talk to the nurse or someone who can help?

Maybe the smell is from your cellulitis? Is that on your skin somewhere? Is it bandaged?
Im assuming you didnt forget a tampon from last month, because youd probably be dead from toxic shock syndrome by now, but i thought id mention it JIC. |

I mean my cellulitis is on my chest but all I smell down there is soap and deodorant. I haven’t talked to my doctor yet and I don’t use tampons. I have some Flonase maybe that will help. I know a year or so ago I was smelling something that smelled like real bad body odor and it was freaking me out but then I found out it was just my sinuses.

I have never heard of an association between cellulitis an the odor of blood. That said, the human body is capable of pretty much anything. Also, if it did not start until after you began the antibiotics, that is also a possibility.
I really don't think you need to worry. If you were having all kinds of GI symptoms like belly pain that won't go away, or super duper bad reflux symptoms or any of a whole bunch of other signs and symptoms signifying something more serious, then it might be worth some concern. My money is on the antibiotic, as long as the odor started after or about the same time as you started the abx. __________________ When I was a kid, my parents moved a lot, but I always found them--Rodney Dangerfield |

I'm going with the antibiotic. They can cause weird smells and tastes.

Are there any stuff made from iron around? Iron also smells like blood.
It is also possible that you got a nosebleed, but it was not too severe so the blood didn't go out through your nose. But be careful, it may be a sign of future illness. It's hard to tell because there are so many reasons for this. I agree with bpcyclist, don't worry about it too much unless there are other awful signs or symptoms. It has happened on me sometimes, and thankfully I'm still healthy up until now. Though I get actual nosebleed a few days later sometimes. |

I've had that with sinus infections/sinusitis. I don't think it was actually blood, but the infection. That stuff is gross. I believe it can sometimes smell like smoke, too. It also sometimes makes my breath rank smelling. Perhaps consider calling your GP? Or if you see an ENT.
I've been dealing with sinus crap, intermittently, since I was a teenager. |

I think the smell might be coming from my boots. I’ve been wearing them nonstop for about 2 months. They have this weird iron smell to them now.
