it doesn't sound stupid or strange.
I think part of it may be has to do with the sheer realisation that you're getting the treatment that you don't think you deserve, or you're not used to. I don't know if that makes sense or not, but say that you're used to be being treated bad, and then someone treats you with genuin concern and in a nice way the reason you could be experiencing such a strong emotion may have to do with that- you've never experienced before, so you litirally don't know how else to react you're not really sad or upset, you're just.... touched, an not sure how else to handle it |

Probably because having someone genuinely express empathy and kindness is unfortunately relatively rare.

Me, too. I feel it very much inside but I don't bawl. I think that the last two responders were very accurate in what they said. I couldn't have replied just as good or better myself.
