Maybe they are all hiding because of my “scary” umbrellas...

I know for me, I have never been busier in my life since coming to PC. I like to put together thoughtful replies that touch on different aspects of what has been said & I just don't have the time to do that any more. I have come a long way since first starting here in 2004 (16 years ago Oct 10) & guess even after all I went through from 1994 till now, I am finding it harder to relate on this forum. My interests & activities & my farm have taken me in a much different direction now though I do check in once in awhile since PC has been home for me for so long I just don't have the time to spend here that I once did.

Everything I have been seeing would suggest that traffic here should be skyrocketing. It could be that people are having mental health problems for the first time in their lives and havenÂ’t made it to forums like this yet. That doesnÂ’t explain why longtime members would go silent. My own history on here is pretty erratic. I post often then it may be months before I even log in again. I maybe feeling pretty good or just donÂ’t know how to articulate what exactly I am feeling and thinking. Maybe people have found others they can relate to for the first time and donÂ’t really need to turn to the internet for people they can relate to.

I try not to think in terms of ''shoulds''
From my perspective, a couple of long term members are missing __________________ |

It did have to do with the sale of the site for me. I saved my thousands of posts, and it wasn’t easy. The thought that the site may simply disappear, made me feel bad that I have put so much of myself into those posts, and they would be gone. I wanted to save my writing.
I’m sure I’ve also been addicted to this site. Knowing it’s ending had me step away first. Abandonment issues? I want to avoid that awful feeling of being ghosted by my virtual, anonymous support group. At this point, I think I’ll post some more through to the end, if there is an end...I’m not sure what will happen when the site transfers. IRL I’ve had people closest to me turn out to not care for me, and devastate me. I feel I must not be lovable, and that’s why. It was the theme of my rants here for the several years I was on. It only got worse over that time. I feel caring for all here, and that I’ve been my best at being supportive and kind (though telling it like it is). But IDK if more than a few people here thought much of me. Heck, maybe I was outright disliked. If my own ‘loved ones’ thought so little of me, what do I expect from peers? So that’s why I’ve been scarce lately. Plus, I’ve been really busy lately helping my son apply to colleges. Also, my anxiety attacks are severe. I go from hysteria and back to baseline, rinse, repeat. It’s been so long now, I’ll probably never get better. The docs and meds don’t help. The hysteria is due to the theme of my anxiety; the abandonment and betrayal from too many of those I love. It’s a love/hate dynamic on my part. I didn’t cause it; they did. I’m just very sensitive and unable to brush off those devastations. I am grateful we are not sick yet and have food and shelter in this pandemic. I am grateful I somewhat repaired some of those devastated relationships of mine IRL. The severe pain of those deep wounds have healed a lot. Thank God. My prayers go out to all on here to heal, survive, and thrive. __________________ "And don't say it hasn't been a little slice of heaven, 'cause it hasn't!" . About Me--T |

I know in my posts I can be very direct and brutally honest, but that doesn't mean I don't care - in fact, I care probably a bit too much!!! I heard from two long term members today who have been absent for a while (one for about a month, the other for longer). They are both ''ok'' and well. (and busy ''irl'')
It's good to check in with friends now and again Thank you for this thread. __________________ |

I'm happy that it is not anyone's ''fault'' that some members are currently taking a break from pc.

I didn't even know that there was a sale of the site. I will admit, I have noticed a slight drop in activity on the site. Responses come in slower, and not as many people join in conversations. There are other sites that have way less activity though. It could also be people getting out more after quarantine. Even though that was a few months ago, they probably want to be out of the house as much as possible. I will say this site is still way more popular than others. On some other sites, you won't get a response on a thread for weeks, and occasionally, months. If ever. And even then, it may be just one or two replies. Psych central is my favorite site. Quick responses, more interactive and helpful advice and discussions, and just overall more friendly. I've tried other sites where people are downright cruel. Instead of being helpful, they make you feel like the worthless person they think you are, even though it isn't true.

I have also found some other sites which are less busy, and where people are cruel. And instead of being supportive or helpful, they treat others as if they are the worthless person they might think they are, even though this is not true.
