Hi, I posted about this in the dissociative disorders forum a couple days ago but it didn't seem like anyone else had ever experienced this, so I thought I would post about it in the general forum too.
Something that I've noticed for years is that I get certain feelings about certain things, like songs or hobbies or people or memories. I have a lot of trouble describing exactly what I'm talking about, because this isn't really something anyone I've met has ever related to, but I guess these feelings are almost like another sense, somewhere between smells and emotions. Sometimes I'll get sort of obsessed with one of them, and I'll assume that it describes my personality, but then I'll just get obsessed with another one a few days to weeks later. It's like everyone and everything has this sort of essence except me, who is just blank.
Has anyone else experienced this?
Thanks!

my sibling has this, in my sibling her doctors call this OCD (Obsessive Compulsive Disorder) in her. she gets so obsessed with something that her concentration is so deep that everything around her does not matter and takes on a faded out quality. her treatment is an antidepressant medication which helps to control her OCD.

contact your own treatment providers they can diagnose what this is in you and get you treated for it.

@SunnyLeslie yes, that describes my experience too! I'm having lots of confusion about who I am and what I want, and all the things attached to these feelings are like different versions of who I could be.
@amandalouise I do have an OCD diagnosis! That's interesting, I had no idea something like this could be a result of OCD.
Thank you both so much for your replies!

i am not sure if that may be what is described, but it has certainly happened to me to become obsessed with certain tv shows or other memories from childhood. i believe that is related to what someone is currently experiencing in their Life. If things don't seem that good then it is tempting to find distractions and focus on other things rather than keep your mind focused on whatever is troubling your Life. SEnding many Safe, warm hugs to BOTH you, @natey83, your Family, your FriEnds and ALL of your Loved Ones! Keep fighting and keep rocking NO MATTE WHAT HAPPENS, OK?!
