The other day it was 101. Today it was 117. I’ve been getting a racing heart and dizzy and lightheaded. But I don’t know if I should be concerned.

I fooled around with my Geodon a couple months ago and I’m wondering if I did something to my heart.

I also just have a lot of anxiety in general. So I’m not sure if it’s just anxiety.

Should I worry about my fast pulse? - Harvard Health

You might want to take a look at this article. It's true that some medications can raise your heart rate. I can't take certain meds because they give me tachycardia.

If it is just at times, particularly when you are active or when you are anxious, it's probably just an anxiety and/or activity thing.

For context, my husband has a heart condition where his RESTING heart rate will be 160bpm for hours on end and they have to make serious interventions to get it down. THAT'S a serious issue with heart rate and will require a cardiac ablation to correct. I also have a cardiac palpitation issue that flares up from time to time. It is rather benign - mostly annoying. I do have medication I can take for it when it becomes an issue, but even it isn't a serious cardiac concern other than an annoyance.

100 or so on occasions for short periods of time, particularly if you are having anxiety, is probably NOT a serious cardiac issues so much as an issue of anxiety that you need to address with your therapist or psychiatrist.

You may also consider less sugar/salt in your diet as a healthier diet may help with the dizziness and even the anxiety. More fresh fruits and vegetables. Less mountain dew and fast food.

heres how I tell when my pulse rate is too high or too low. I check in with myself to see if I am more interested in posting on facebook, twitter or online forums about the situation than I am about calling my doctor, calling emergency services.

taking a guess since you feel more comfortable posting this here and questioning whether its normal or not, vs immediately calling your doctor or emergency services, you are ok at this moment and this time.

if you google you will find that ......in general ..........a pulse rate for a normal / healthy / not on medications, no health problems and so forth person is anywhere between 60 and 100 sometimes as high as 120.

if you google you will also find that pulse rate depends upon many things, genetics, weight, health issues, medication, physical situations, the weather and so forth.

a persons pulse rate is going to be higher or lower than normal if they are obese or underweight, on medications, ect

contact your doctor they can tell you based on your body what your normal vital statistics like pulse rate should be and if it is indeed to high they can put you on high blood pressure medications that will stabilize your heart and blood pressure/ pulse rate. they can tell you what physical activities you can and cant do, set a dietary plan with you to get weight issues in control and so on and so forth.

Hi @Mountaindewed - I am sorry you are having rapid heart beat. I think the best way to tell if this is a concern is to reach out to the prescriber of your medicines and tell them what your pulse has been and ask them if this is a concern. If your doctor is not available, your pharmacist might give you information about the meds and their affect on your heart rate.

Please note that any comments here should not be taken as medical advice. Only your health care professionals can offer you medical advice.

Hope you are feeling better or can seek info from your prescriber. @CANDC

Stop all the caffeine and get at least 20 minutes a day of exercise, a mile walk is an excellent one.

I agree with those who suggest you reach out to your docs. I will say that Nammu's suggestion to cut down on caffeine is flat out sound advice. If I recall correctly, you do claim to consume a lot, sometimes.

Hope you feel better soon and any anxiety eases.

I have had tachycardia in the past. I was prescribed a small dose of a very side effect friendly medication. I still take it. Nowadays my heart rate is normal.

I didn’t read through the whole thread so forgive me if this is the same as what someone else has said, if this is something that persists keeps recurring or lasts for a long period of time, I would see an MD/DO as soon as possible.

My pulse was 120 tonight. I feel sick from something. I think it’s just the severe constipation I have going on.

I don't mean to alarm you, but you really should go the ER if your pulse rate is that high and you're feeling unwell. Could be anything, but don't let it get unchecked.

At the doctors my pulse was 117. The second time it was 112. They did an EKG and it was ok. I also did this 6 minute walking test which was also ok. If they aren’t worried then neither am I. Although I do worry sometimes about getting a sudden heart attack a few years from now.

I think if you're anxious then the high pulse is probably due to that. But I'm not a doctor so I wouldn't take my word for it. I'm on anti-anxiety meds and my pulse stays at 90 and gets up to 100 or so when I'm really anxious about something. I have high cholesterol though, or I used to, so I worry about my heart a lot.
