When you claim you have an issue and you try to get help you don’t get the help you need but when you say you don’t need or want help no one believes you?

I’m talking about eating disorders but I guess this applies to anything.

This girl I knew on Facebook tried getting help with her eating disorder but everyone turned her away and wouldn’t help her. I know she was really overweight but I don’t get why they wouldn’t help her since bigger people can have EDs too.

I avoid telling people about my issues because everyone loses their **** and I get transferred to other people or I have to do intake assessments.

So are you just like labeled an attention seeker when you try to get help even if that’s not your intention?

I’m really secretive about my issues that I still am not 100% sure are there.

So Sorry! Please Do not give up! i think some people can be like that unfortunately. It may be best to talk about certain subjects to the people whom we trust the most perhaps. i am not sure if it ever happened to me. Perhaps it did but i don't quite remember at the moment. Hugs. Sending many Safe, warm hugs to BOTH you, @Mountaindewed, your Family, your Friends and ALL of your Loved Ones! Keep fighting and keep rocking NO MATTER WHAT HAPPENS, OK?!

At least in the US, I think we're expected to be strong individuals and we should handle our issues ourselves. Especially mental issues. That's BS, but I think that's what our culture is like. But we also have a tendency to want to be "our brother's keeper," which I think tends to have people get involved in other's lives without being asked to. People think they know what's best for you and are not afraid to tell you.

When I was in a ED treatment hospital for anorexia, most of the others in there were in there for overweight. Depends also on insurance coverage, cost & payment ability probably more than for need. Most people I know are turned away from treatment is because the cost of specialized treatment is so high many can't afford it
