There have been campaigns to raise awareness of mental illness and it is something that is increasingly talked about over here, so is by no means taboo or a banned topic.
I understand what you’re saying, I also understand that the OP felt the way they did although they didn’t elaborate further on their experience. Both responses are valid imo.

In this village there is certaintly stigma, even the doctors in the surgery dont want to deal at all with mental illness

Willowtigger did you try to talk to your doctors about mental health issues? What did they say to you?

Have you asked to see a psychiatrist? Is it possible? I know it’s not easy to get referred to one, but if your GP refuses to discuss your mental health concern, how do they expect you to get help?

A family member of mine used her private insurance to get mental health help because sadly wait list with NHS was way too long and help needed rather immediate.

When did you see your primary care doctors last?

Before covid kicked off is when i last saw them, its impossible to get appointments with them nowadays, meaning everyone goes to A&E, which isnt the right place to get mental health help when i'm not a danger to myself

which means i had to let someone at work know i have mental health issues, which wasnt ideal, but i know work offer counselling sessions sometimes, but even they are overloaded so i'm low on their priority list, i'm having to look into private which isnt as easy as it sounds either cause they are all full as well .......

This village is a dump anyway, one day I want to get out of this dump and go somewhere better.

I'm referring to the village I live in, thats what i'm calling a rat and litter infested dump, not this forum

just so its clear

and yes there are literally rats around here, neighbours leave food out which is encouraging them, cause they cannot be arsed to bag stuff up to put it in the wheelie bins

I'm unlikely to be able to move until Willow and Tigger are both gone to rainbow bridge

Willowtigger, it is difficult to access mental health resources on the NHS, and I’m sorry to read you can’t seem to access your GP at the moment.

Did you know you can self refer to NHS mental health talk therapy through an online form? The waiting list may be long unfortunately but there is an option to do this.

Would you like me to post a link here for you to take a look?

I'm not exactly happy with one of the doctors at the practice anyways cause back when Ebony was still with me, she wanted me to rehome both Ebony and Tigger

Her reason: she is not a cat person herself

even though at no point did I take Ebony or Tigger with me there.

Literally people only move here to this dump if they cannot buy anywhere else for any reason. There's only one other place here that is a bigger dump than this village, and that particular town is getting worse and worse. They are getting caught in a cycle of "places close down there cause they are losing too much stuff to theifs who cannot afford to buy stuff they need anyways, businesses closing down is making more people struggle to afford essentials cause of the loss of jobs, which is forcing more people into having to steal from the businesses that are left, which is then forcing more businesses to close (all the small businesses there are gone, there's just a couple of supermarkets, a few charity shops, and a couple of businesses that don't contain stuff that can be stole), charity shops don't have paid staff, supermarkets have as many staff as they need there, so yeah that town is dying on its feet, businesses won't open up there now cause they don't want to get half their stock stole, even the police, when they go there, they go mob-handed to deal with anything

Sadly we have the same issue in the US when people in small towns or rural areas just don’t have the same access to things. Longer wait and so on. What a shame.
