So I wanted to overcome my friendship situation by venting out here, that’s safe isn’t it? My goal is to feel surrounded. Especially on msf, before I move on to real life (I plan to attend college and then make friends my age 😊 till then, youngsters will have to do!)
But I don’t know how to track progress because this is based on my feelings
Any ideas?

A personal thought here from years of experience.....I don't worry about stuff like this cause the more you worry, the more yiu try to make things happen the way you want them in areas of life like this the more we just screw things up. Just be mindful of the environmemt around you & just make tge best of what it is cause you can't force friendships to happen ever. They either do or they don't & many just stay acquaintances

Rip Leo.
Are there any other things in life that can’t be forced?

Most everything in life can't be forced. You can learn skills but they aren't used to force things they are just so the actions one takes when situations happen can go smoother & more in control. Nothing good can be forced when other people are involved as they always have their free will choices to see & do things their way

That’s a wonderful thing to know that everyone have their free will
Personally, I love freedom
And I want my friends also to have that
I Realise there is no black and white
That either we have control or we don’t
In fact, I think we have some control but not fully
And the only control we have while talking with others is what we have on our self
I suppose I should just go with the flow
By the way, my support form is a wonderful place
I love it here
It’s like a little family
love you all

Glad you are finding MSF a good, safe place to talk about tge things bothering you. It is where I started years ago before finding the exceptional therapist I had for years.

As for tracking progress, some find journaling to be a benefit. I never journaled.....lol....I would just look back years later & think WOW, I can't believe all these wonderful changes have happened in my life from the skills I learned in therapy.

I just got together with a group of ladies from my therapy DBT group we were in & we were all saying the same thing. We had the best therapist for both private & the group & were together for years then followed her into her private practice. My first private therapist there retired & when she left she said she never thought she could break through the walls I had built around myself but was so happy to see that they did. I sensed it was happening cause life & relationships with others felt different than it had all my life in a very good way. I grew up around dysfunctional parents & married a dysfunctional husband (I finally left). Learning functional skills through DBT & a wonderful therapist & being surrounded by wonderful people where I moved to was the perfect foundation for change to be built on

That’s so nice to hear that you have surrounded yourself with people, that helps when journaling is tough
I started journaling when I was 11 years old. It has been around 9 years since, and I have begun to reach out to others now. It feels great.
