Maybe "under the care of a psychiatrist" was meant. I was also startled by the expression "under..."

@Rall19 - we use the same expression in Australia. My gp says I’m under the care of my psychiatrist.

Thought I might’ve had bipolar but nope. One of the intense symptoms of BPD is auditory (and I think some visual) hallucinations which I’ve had some even before my psychosis episode. Afterwards I realised that I had BPD, dbt therapy has helped a lot to calm it down. Apparently it shows up when you’re in a relationship mostly (correct me if I’m wrong) but I’ve been decently stable since quitting weed and doing therapy. Don’t need medications, just therapy, which is BPD I think. Hope this helped maybe??? It’s pretty hard to get diagnosed with BPD since not many therapists are trained for it. My mom is a therapist and since she knows me she pointed out that I might have bpd and to look into it so I did. Strongly believe I have it but since therapy many of the symptoms have lessened. |

I think it's more useful to focus on treating the cluster of symptoms as needed rather than labeling it as a whole thing where it can be assumed that what works for one will work for another.
Regardless of whether you "have schizophrenia," are antipsychotics helpful? If so, yeah, take 'em and let the doc put on their papers what they're gonna put on their papers. If not, well, drop the meds (under care of med provider of course). Regardless of whether you "have BPD" you can learn how to combat the symptoms making them think you fit that dx with education and therapy. __________________ [Insert thought-provoking and comedic quote here] |
