My friend just got married and bought a new house all in the last couple of months and I'm stuck on what gift would be the most appropriate.

She'd given my husband and I cash as a gift. But I want to give a little more since there are two milestones. She also just started a new job, so lots of positive and great things happening for her.

I'm thinking a gift card but that might be too impersonal. Any ideas?

@rukspc for the person that has everything, a gift card can be very helpful. Places like Lowes or Home Depot have appliance and remodeling supplies and many useful things. I would be happy to get a gift card. It those are not located in their vicinity some other gift card may do. Or ask them if they have a public wish list at Amazon or if they would start one.

I prefer practical gifts. Beautiful things that sit in a closet or on a shelf to me are not as good as practical things.

rukspc, I'm thinking along the same lines as Candc. You said they just got married, bought a new house and started a new job. Actually listing all that I wonder about a gift certificate for a couples massage. They both must be stressed.

Back to my original idea, how about a gift card to a store for house furnishings. Or you could give multiple cards to different stores. How about including a personal note acknowledging all the big changes in their life?
