I think in some ways it is sad that the media is still sensationalizaing MJ's death. I understand he was a public figure and made his life an open book but I think he and his family deserve some privacy and respect. Trying to get pictures of his dead body I think is totally out of line.

He was an amazing entertainer and musician! Let's not forget his impact on pop culture!

May Michael Jackson rest in peace!
Thanks for this!

I agree.

As far as I am concerned.. I know there have been accusations. However, they were not proven. Nor am I the one making the accusation. Therefore, i think I am not the one to judge.

As far as I am concerned, though he was different, he deserves respect in his death.

Thanks for this!

I agree he was a musical genius and made a huge impact in the music industry. His death should be respected and I hope he's at peace now. The media are snakes and love to make a circus out of everything. Only God can judge!

Who here thinks that Michael Jackson died the same way Anna Nicole Smith died from? A lethal cocktails of prescription drugs. They mention that the police took a bag full of prescription drugs, Zoloft, Xanax, and bunch more from the house. They also mention that his private doctor is no where to be seen.... very suspicious.

Don't usually watch the news . I find it depressing. But I checked out
a little on CNN today and they interviewed a good friend of his and
he said Michael was abused by his father as a child , that he trusted
his two daughters with him and never had any complaints from his
daughters about anything sexual. He said that he thinks his death
was drug related and said that Michael had a problem with painkillers.
He said he thinks it may have been Oxycontin and was taking
Demerol injections. I wonder how many times the stories will change
before we get the facts. I don't really care how he died . The fact
is he's dead and I feel for his family and friends. When your famous,
that's the price you pay. The Media Circus.

As a little child in the 60's, teenager in 70's, and a young adult in 80"s... I do miss MJ of this particular era... he was fantastic.... at this point and that is how I want to remember him

What I find interesting is we had 2 other big members of the fraternity of stars die this week also but you don't hear about them it is all about Michael.

What about Farrah? What about Ed? Are they less people than Michael?

Just because they both had cancer and we knew it was going to happen eventually doesn't mean their deaths are less important.

I feel for all the families that have lost someone this week.

While Ed and Farrah were big stars, there is no denying that MJ was more influencial in the entertainment world. There are several specials running on Farrah tonight and while there isn't the continuous coverage, we also know how she died, there is no controversy over her life, there is no allegations of financial issues, there are no custody issues---in short, there isn't the curiosity and fascination surrounding her. Also, again, neither Ed nor Farrah had the huge huge huge impact that MJ did. It's like when Elvis died...the huge outpouring of love and pain.

I spent today in NYC and everywhere I went there were people dressed like Michael Jackson and blasting his songs from their cars, people at dinner were singing MJ. It's all I heard about all day. Everyone is kind of mourning together - it's really sad and neat all in one.

In spite of his artistic genius he was clearly a very troubled man and I hope his family can feel comfort that he is now at peace.

For sure he was troubled...
One of his photographs showed the eyes of a very sad person...at least that is the feeling I got. He looked so tired, a human being battling demons and parasites.

Many other people died this week.... Not only Ed, Farrah and Michael but we never hear them on the news (Unless if they were murder victims from a brutal attack). Those people who aren't celebrities who died this week are even lucky just to have their names listed on the obituaries on a small portion in the news paper, thats it.

Just think of how many of our brave soldiers that died in the Iraq war who only received only 5 sec fame on the news and off with the next set of news that generally puts me to sleep.

Yeah Jan, I totally understand your point. I totally agree

Other people who died this week didn't have any impact on my life and I didn't grow up with them. I didn't grow up with Michael, but he lived nearby, we were the same age, and I was in awe of his talent. I remember looking around at the boys at my school and thinking no one even came close to having his talent.

I never fully bought into those allegations of abuse, and I don't believe he caused any physical or emotional harm to those children. Besides, what mother in her right mind would allow her child to sleep in a bed with a strange man? Those parents were too eager to take the money and run.

Just as I've said about Jon and Kate Plus Eight, parents shouldn't use their children to support themselves. Michael was never allowed to be a kid. As a result, he never learned any social skills - he never learned how to walk. The only life he knew was on stage, at the mercy of strangers who either loved or hated him - but didn't know or care about him. I suspect he may have suffered from autism.

As for his appearance due to the vitiligo, I take that personally as well. My illness (amyloidosis), is causing my face to become disfigured. When I hear people make jokes about his "freakish" face and skin, it reminds me of the "jokes" people used to make about my mother's appearance when I took her out in public. It reminds me to stay indoors and away from the public. I'm so thankful I'm not famous.

Rest in peace, Michael. Thanks for your music.

He admitted to the world he slept in the same bed with the kids so that was not made up.

Hi everyone,

I want to remind everyone although this is a VERY hot topic and obviously people have their very strong opinions(and you are entitled to that), we should stay within guidelines and try to agree to disagree when we can. It is ok to do that! heck, sometimes I even have to do it with myself

I just wanted to post this before this thread got heated like the other one did as I don't want to see anther thread get shut down.

Everyone is doing pretty good so far, lets keep it calm and respectful ok!

Love you all!
Thanks for this!

I agree with Rainbowzz that this thread shouldn't turn into a war of words like the other one. Yesterday some people took me wrong because I wasn't conviced he was guilty, so I'm not going to talk about it anymore.

It wasnt (from my point of view) because you didnt think he was guilty it was because lots of people on this site have been SA and find it insensative the way his accusers are being dismissed and he is being praised continualy by lots of people on a site which has vulnerable people on it.

I think vulnerability can be deeply respected while at the same time we can also respect the fact that accused is not the same as guilty.
We can't know what we don't know.

I found it difficult when my sister would talk to my abuser on the phone in front of me as if nothing had happend and then get off the phone and say Gary was saying blah blah .....

I come on a 'safe' site and have an accused peadophile rubbed in my face in General, Social, Grief and Loss and Videos and Lyrics.....

Grief and Loss I can cope with as I will just avoide it but not being sure where it is going to pop up again is not a nice situation to be in, I am at the point where I may just leave the site and not return as it really does not feel that safe any more.

!

I agree people are entitled to their opinions but not to continualy post on a subject that appears to be upsetting to people on a so called 'safe' site.

If someone was to start a thread saying is peadophiliar actualy peadophiliar how long would that thread last, even though those people are entitled to their opinion also.

I have received pms from people (I will not name them) saying the same as me who are also upset about it and agree with me.
