LOL - cute. But I tell you, nothing will get you sped through the ER faster than showing up in a mask coughing your lungs out and running a fever as I did back when HINI was peaking for the first time up here. Turned out I had a bad case of pneumonia, and they tested me for the flu, which I didn't have thank heavens. But boy was I ever seen to quickly.
On a more serious note, my harp teacher is making us Purel our hands before using her harp, which has got to be brutal on her strings, but at least will hopefully keep her studio from becoming the source of an outbreak of anything nasty. --splitimage

I have been getting letters from the school about the swine flu. The school even sent home a number where you can call and check on it. I did call it, and it said it is just flu. They said that as long as your healthy that you will get over it. If your not, and get it, well now they have a vaccine, and they will give that to you. My bf works with a girl where someone in her outer family has it, and they are doing ok. The Dr's didn't give them the shot, because they weren't dying from it. The family is fine.

I see this is a fun thread, but I have a serious question about swine flu and can't find the information anywhere.
Edited by me..... Nevermind I think I found my answer, and what I questioned is a mistake anyway. I have some native friends up in the Manitoba reserves who received their "kits" from the government. They were expecting face masks, hand sanitizers and flu medicine. They got the face masks and sanitizers, but instead of medicine they got....gulp....body bags! The authorities are saying it was just a mistake, but this happened on six different reserves! Hope that wasn't too depressing for this thread. It's Tigger's fault - look at that guilty face!! I think my brother had swine flu last week. I'm not worried though. I like to ignore overhyped news like that.

I will be honest and say I fear it some. I know its a funny thread so im sorry.
I worry about all the ppl i know with low immune systems. I also worry for them with the reg flu. The good news is most ppl are recovering from it. We have at a few colleges here lost a few. One odd thing is at my sons college thier web site says if you have it stay home till better, but remember if you miss more than one calender week you can be booted out ...lol confused look. As what if you have it longer... so on one hand they lectured on staying home...then spent the rest lecturing on fear of being removed lol |

we got swine flu (lowered immune system) it was a drag, but, hey, don't have those vaccinations, they are more dangerous than swine flu
it's a media beat up, there have been less than 4,000 deaths worldwide & we just had our first case of infection from a human to a pig farm the flu epidemic after WW1 wiped out about 1/3 of the population, this is a joke DON'T PANIC as they say on the front cover of The Hitchhikers Guide To The Galaxy

A friend of mine got the swine flu (and recovered quite nicely thank you very much) - but the govt wont allow test for it now in case it panics people. Sheesh.
But really........ how many people die each day from Aids or starvation? Perspective please. Mind you late this year or early next year they are planning on a mass vaccination of adults in Australia. Not sure how though? |
