Now that it is fall, i feel admit that i am a self proclaimed whimp when it comes to the cold. Now that my depression has lifted, my thoughts have turned to looking good in the cold. I am a semi hippy chick and in the summer it is long flowing skirts with sandles. In the winter i get clueless and end up wearing jeans and a sweatshirt and feel frumpy. I use public transportation and will be exposed to a lot of bone chilling wind...i want to fight the wind and cold and win! But i want to look damn good doing it from head to toe. I am desperate for some new ideas...frow hats to scarves to footwear and everything inbetween. So let me hear your ideas...even from you lurkers.
Thanks for this!

I'm with you, NF. I love winter fashions. However, I can't help you. Although winters in AZ are beautiful, our mean temperature here is 62F. I am warm blooded and even sweaters are too much for me.

Thanks vickie. I figured this thread would either take off or die. But i still will be looking around at what people are wearing. Went to a cosignment store and looked around. Got some good ideas. Layering stuff. Still looking for some textured wool thigh highs. The weather changes so quickly that if you watch the weather to see how to dress, by mid day, the weather has changed...thus the layered look i guess.

I'm having similar trouble

in the past I would just wear layers, T shirt + zipup sweatshirt or sweater +coat, but i'm wanting something a bit warmed.

I love scarfs and hats and boots =D

Boots.

Black knee boots, red knee boots, teal ankle boots, leopard ankle boots, ...

With skirts or leggings or jeans.

Or when in farm mode jeans with paddock boots, muck boots, or hiking boots.

Fashion tip for winter - (not) Ugg boots. They are really warm. But they do get wet. Wear them at home.

I can't really suggest anything because things look different on different people. I usually wear my usual stuff except with a big jacket. It's not flattering but it's toasty.

ok, my advice would be to look online. i live in australia, but i love love love looking at the winter fashion (not required here!!) on revolveclothing.com. you can get some really good ideas about different styles, how colours work etc and then modify it to suit your style and purpose.

i am not sure if there are sites like that for an older demographic, but try googling things like "winter fashion look book" and you should get a few websites coming up.

i am a wimp even in an australian winter (it was 20 degrees celcius today - too cold for my bones LOL). i am heading to japan over xmas (will be snowing there) and i am having panic attacks at the thought.
