I guess even the Governor's Wife is but only Human.... but then again - aren't we all.

Maria Maria, cell phone cheatah!
It appears Maria Shriver broke the law prohibiting driving under the influence of a cell phone
-- a law her hubby supported and signed into law last year.

Caught on Film not one, but twice breaking the LAW - see Pics.

ENJOY! - just a little humor for us regular guys.....

I really don't like it when my parents drive and talk on their cellphones at the same time, if it is REALLY important they'll leave a message, or if you had to answer it you could at least pull over. It is VERY dangerous. Thankfully they do it a lot less often now...

I had a cabby do this the other day. I asked him to pull over if he needed to use the phone. I have 0 tolerance.

I'm sure Pup and everyone in the UK can testify.....in the UK if you are caught with ANYTHING in your hands while driving - this includes food, drink, cigarette, cellphone - ANYTHING, you are fined bigtime. They don't fool around over there.

I wish I had the gumption of all of you above. I can't drive to my out of town doc's appts, and have to depend on a Medicaid/low cost bus called TRAX to drive me. It's the only way I can get there, believe me, and I don't want to offend them. I'm pretty sure they can deny me transport if they wish. But drivers tend to both eat and/or talk on cell phones the whole trip. I'm not scared or anything - it would be better than my driving, if they drove with their toes! Besides, I'm not liable for anything, since I'm not eating or talking, so I won't get the ticket! Just thought I would throw that in. People are too busy not to multitask these days, I guess, but it's kink of offensive. I can stand up for others, but not myself! billieJ

It's not just about tickets...distracted drivers can cause accidents. Too many people think because they haven't been in accidents and nothing happened that they can handle multitasking while driving, but studies show it's just not that simple. I've heard so many drivers say, "I'm a good driver, so why should I be punished because other people can't put on their makeup/eat/text/etc. and drive?"

I've heard of idiots that drive with their KNEES while doing other stuff!!!

The laws against distracted driving allow the cops to ticket and fine you if you violate them, but they have to catch you first. Every time my boyfriend and I go out, I see people on their cell phones while driving.

People cause accidents whilst driving while chatting on their cell phones. Not far up the road from me a cyclist was killed while a young woman was texting a message to some-one.

People are fined when caught using a mobile phone and they also lose 3 demerit points. You lose demerit each time you get caught disobeying the road rules. Obtain more than 12 demerit points and you will lose your drivers licence.

A friend of mine got caught talking on her phone while driving and pushed her demerit points over 12. She lost the privilege of driving for 1 year.
