It really upsets me that some people on Youtube argue with each other like a bunch of kids, and it's over the dumbest things. I mean, I love a lot of the videos on the site, but the way that people argue and just post the most hateful comments makes me want to go there less and less. Does anyone else feel the same way?

Youtube has become known for the trolls and their comments.
In fact, it's almost expected, anymore.
For no apparent reason, even often on a "good" video post, trolls present their usual comments....almost as though it's expected, anymore.

Although alot of their replies can be offensive, it's best to just receive them as a joke, and if possible, find the humor in how idiotic they really can be.
The trolls presence WILL be there...among the majority of the vid posts, anyway.
It's as though these people have nothing better to do than to surf these vids and post their slander. And just by the immaturity of the responses, it's obvious that the majority of the trolls are merely bored, (some angry) kids with nothing better to do. Try to take it in stride. Overlook the comments.
I go there to watch the vids, not read their comments, (altho reading some of the comments can be entertaining in its own right...lol).

Youtube + Trolls seem to be hand-in-hand, anymore, unfortunate as that is.
Some of their replies are SO out of context and stupid that I have to find the humor in em.

Indie~
While viewing these vids, there is a selection you can choose beneath the vid screen, (somewhere above the comment window, I believe), where you can omit the viewing of the comments entirely.
Hope this helps.....some.

Lol...He's never said anything to you about it? Check em out sometime, Michele. You'll see why he's never said anything to you...lmao.
(It is possible, though, that he simply hasn't paid attention to them, too. So, I can't say that he's deliberately keeping anything from you) . It really isn't THAT bad so long as one understands the intentions of the behavior behind what trolls do....they deliberately slander (and sometimes quite offensively) TO get a reaction.

My daughter has account on there, too. She makes many of her own vids (using that Sony Video Edit program thingie...lol), and from her online game, Toontown. She has a few thousand subscribers...O.O.....apparently, that's the craze amongst her and her friends.
She's on Youtube...ALOT, and has sent me links to tons of various vids, (mostly funny ones). Upon reviewing some, I've commented to her how vile some of the responses by these trolls can be.
She's told me that those trolls are commonplace and to just ignore them.
So, I do....

Thank you Shangrala I usually try to ignore them, but it's hard when their comments are directed at me. I don't really go on youtube anymore though

These people who make nasty comments, would never have the courage to say these things in real life. They enjoy being cruel and making people sad. Someone could post the most perfect vidoe possible and there would be someone out there saying some nasty comment. I fear what society is becoming with the lack of common morals and simple kindness to others.

My son has uploaded his video games that he plays there. He has no pictures of himself. He is shy with pictures, but not with his mouth. lol
He has done some of his own type of speaking on there. Something that I do not approve of. I've been on his pg, and I think that it's different. lol
My son doesn't worry to much about other people. He just doesn't care. Neither does my other son, but my daughter does. Girls are more senitive to what people say. Then again my boys are on a different maturety level then what my daughter was at their age.

I usually just go on youtube to listen to the music, so I don't really pay attention to the comments. Most comments I don't take seriously anyways as people seem to make stupid comments all the time anyways

Yep. Yep. Yep. I hear that. My dot is above the average regarding her maturity at her age. In fact, she's pointed out how immature most of those idiotic comments really are.
She never gets into the arguments of the comments, (and she definitely receives her fair share of slander). She either simply ignores or laughs it off.

Though, I can certainly understand how Indie feels about discovering direct slander against her...It truly IS so unnecessary, and some really do receive it personally....hard not to when directed at you personally.
(Still would love to have link tho...lol...set em straight....).

Sometimes there are comments or debates that aren't mindless, however, it depends what you're watching on YouTube. The mindless ones I ignore because I know there's no sense in getting involved and worked up. The comments aren't necessarily there to make someone feel sad, they're just mindless nonsense and the way I view it, getting involved in the mindless nonsense is only going to feed it and by that time, you've got yourself in a spiral of nonsense.

Lots of it probably is stuff people wouldn't say to another person's face, and so some of the vile stuff is merely confidence-boosters. The individual is confident already at that point and so attacking them is possibly going to annoy them, and so be prepared for a retaliation composed of anger. It's the same as when someone in real-life gets an award and is very happy and confident, then someone makes a snide remark to them. That person will get immense anger towards them. It's no different on youtube.
