really, really like to watch really violent movies? Like with shootings, wars, bashings, fights?

Some of the movies my dad watches are quite horrible.
There are a lot of death, violence, occur in these films.

One film he watched even had a rape scene

Very scary. They try to split the movies into good ppl vs bad people, but really all violent people are the same and there is no good reason to be violent.

I guess you hit it on the head. It's depicted as good vs bad, and people like to watch these sorts of movies where good triumphs over evil in a very dramatic way . . .

I particularly hate rape scenes in movies. There's a movie called "Last House on the Left" and there is, quite literally, a 5 minute long, intensely graphic rape scene. I was so upset by it, I ended up plugging my ears, closing my eyes and humming until it was over. That all being said, I don't really like violent movies. For me they are just too close to real life...I like movies to help me escape, not remind me of things.

I think it is a mixed bag. My wife will not watch a Tarrantino film, because of the violance. I have my limits too. I understand conflict that serves a plot, Saving Private Ryan is a very violant film, but it is in the context of getting its audience to understand what those men went through when they hit the beach at Normandy.

As soon as I hear any screaming in a movie or the blaring of weapons = channel changed....IF it happens to be on the TV that I'm viewing...but then again, I'm a cartoon kinda gal..Cartoon Network is usually the channel that's on.

What goes on in real life is enough for me. I don't need to deliberately view even more violence and sorrow.
Cartoons keep me smiling. THAT'S how I like it.

I like some violent movies. Tim mentiones Tarrintino movies OMG I love that guy. I love his movies. Mostly because of the dark humor in them. But I watched this one movie a few weeks ago called "Taken" it had Liam Neeson in it. That movies was awesome. It was one of those good v. evil deals. And good won in a totally awesome way. I will not watch a movie with graphic rape scenes in it. I watched the Watchmen and hated it when the Commidean was raping Silk Spectre 1. It had me freaked out and I hated that movie. But I want to watch "Inglorius Basterds" it looks hilarious.

I liked Saving Private Ryan. I had to walk out of the room with all the blood. ( my stomach is week to blood) After the first part I watch it. It was the story that grabbed me on it. I wondered if the story was true.
I won't watch anything to do with rape, or kids getting hurt. I get upset in real life over stuff like that.

Part of it is the times we live in. There is violence everywhere and the scariest part to me is that so many folks are numb to it. It takes more and more to make an impression and that is sad. Bring back A.Hitchcock . he could scare the bedoobies outta of us and with little to no violence. But then, you have to use your brain to truly benefit from one of his movies and well...........
