You know you're pathetic when you're envious of the young girl who just got hired making burritos at Chipotle. "What's this?" the trainer asks...."That's the white lime rice!!" says the noobie..."That's right, Excellent!! God job." says the trainer. I can do that too....you don't even need to train me!!

For the love of belly button fuzz....I can name every single ingredient on the front line...and operate the cash register....can I have a job too....? Arrrggghhh!!!! I'm pathetic!!

You know you're even more pathetic when you have 8 years of hospital nursing experience and you can't even get a job in a Methadone clinic!!!

How the hell did this happen to my career?

Uugh...nevermind!! I'm just feeling sorry for myself.

in no way are you pathetic! just look at it this way: you've put in 8 more years of serious and excellent work than that girl. things'll turn around, (as dumb as it sounds) when the time is right.

hugs from me!! lots and lots of hugs

Okay, no one has mentioned this to you here thus far... The economy is in shambles. People who hate their jobs are holding onto them. Even volunteers are having trouble finding volunteer work. You are not pathetic, the economy is. Blame GW Bush if you have to. Also you are a staple on this board, someone who is pathetic could not fill your shoes. Hang in there!

Thanks guys...

I re-read my original post and realized it was kind of passive-aggressive and attention seeking. But then I keep hearing my T in my head telling me not to judge my thoughts/feelings.

Nucking...you're right...the economy is in shambles. It's not all me. There is a possibility that one of my old Managers trashed me around to the other managers in the community, but I am looking in to this.

I'm just real scared. Our State is running out on Unemployment benefits and I may lose mine in a few weeks. I really don't know what I'm gonna do if I don't get a job. I'm not the kind of person that could survive living on the streets.

One day at a time, huh?

Babysteps: That was one of the most thought-provoking, sensitive and kind pep talks I've ever heard. Well done.

((((((((( Elysium )))))))))))))) You are one of the people I most admire here on PC. And if I do say so myself, that means something.

Hang in there. Things will turn around. Think outside the box.

When I was younger, I never had trouble being employed. One reason was I was willing to do jobs no one else wanted. I was a government investigator and often, I was threatened and challenged. But I learned the proper way to deal with it and used some courage and succeeded.

Also, in bad times, I was a bill collector. I was very good at that, too. I learned from the best. No strong arm tactics. The key was, I worked for an attorney who would go to court and get judgments on the debt and then we would enforce the judgments. It was like being in law enforcement, sort of, like I did before. Except you talked to the plaintiff and arranged for payment or hauled their ***** into court. Or did what was called executions where you sent the sheriff out to confiscate property.

What I'm saying is, I always did jobs that no one else wanted to do. If you could think in those terms, perhaps you could think of jobs that are, perhaps, unpopular in the medical field.

Just a few suggestions.

The title of the thread almost sounds like the beginning of a joke. I don't have any answers for you, so I'll play along with your joke......

You know you're PATHETIC when...........

You try to fold fitted sheets and end up looking like a cocoon. Oh well, my husband was impressed with the job.

I'm sorry you're having so much trouble finding employment.
Thanks for this!

Ditto. Remember that there are a lot of things involved with this that actually don't have to do with you. The economy is one; anxieties in the health care branch about reforms, etc are another. You made the best choice you could, dear. I think it was courageous, not pathetic. Let the child spoon her lime rice. maybe she'll grow up to be as brave as you! Huggs, for real.
Thanks for this!

Got a suggestion that may help if that fear turns into panic. It is called 211. United Way has the best resources available. Some of the money they get is from our hard earned tax dollars, some from their yearly drive from people who donate 3% of their pay. Either way, your money went into these social programs. They have lists of social service organizations as well as churches that can help you with rent, utilities, food, eye exams and glasses, ID's, birth certificates, mortgages, prescriptions...etc. So call 211 or goggle United Way 211. Do not wait...lots of people are needing the help these days. I hope that you look into this. Because of these people, my deposit for my new apartment was covered and part of my first months rent. I have gone to a foodbank to make the groceries last. I hope this helps.
Thanks for this!

Elysium,

You are not pathetic. The economy sucks everywhere. It's really hard to find jobs with cut backs everywhere. I know you made a tough decision that cost you your job, but your integrity is important and in the long run will see you come out on top. I don't know your family or financial situation but would relocating to some place where there are more nursing jobs available, be an option for you?

I've been looking for months to find a job with zero success, I felt ike such a loser and a mooch just not doing anything while my friends are off in college and/or working. So even though I don't want to be in debt my step-dad is going to help me get financial aide and student loans and stuff so I can go to college in the fall and regain a sense of purpose in life.

It's funny, at graduation the speaker told us to fix the economy for them :crazy" it was a joke because we are entering into a world with the worst recession since the great depression. But sometimes I think to myself, "How?"
