I had a mental health assesment today. The result of this was that I do not have any of the problems I thought I did after I joined PC. This is great news for me; however, it means that the woman who assesed me feels the same as my parents: that this site is dangerous and not helping me. She has recommended that I not spend so much time here, and focus my time on other things IRL.
Therefore, I have given in to them. From now on, I will be spending less time here. I'm so sorry, but I can't go agaisnt so many people. I'll miss you all when I'm away. I will still come here on Wednesday's for my chat.  Bryony/WarmSeptemberSun/DfendrOfEmilysHeart

I guess it all depends on how you use the site. Some come to heal. Some come to hide. It is a fine line in that regard. Hugs to you.

 There is such beauty in this site, and Im sorry the parental figures dont see it......................  Everybody has mental health issues we are the ones who are FACING IT HEAD ON..... This site is not 'hiding' from the world, we are real people, really helping real issues that are written about honestly, fiercely..... defender I gave you my facebook correspodence in a previous email...perhaps we could keep in touch that way

I was wondering since it takes a fair amount of time to explore this site, what exactly about it makes this a dangerous site? I would really like to know.

Glad to hear that you got what sounds like a clean bill of mental health.
I can see your parent's and your practitioner's point about this site being harmful. IMO...I don't think dangerous is the right word, but I will say that some folks who "think" they may have a mental health issue but don't have much insight yet could cause themselves more harm by spending too much time here. I just feel that some folks, as opposed to seeking professional help, will sometimes self diagnose themselves without getting a more objective assessment from an appropriate provider. They then come here and start to mingle amongst others who are in similar situations and others that have more formal diagnoses. I can see how, if they don't truly have a disorder, that they can do themselves harm by subconsciously placing themselves in the sick role. This site is great for those with a mental illness, or life challenges who need support...but for those that use this site to hide from seeking out a professional opinion it might not be so good straight out the gait. (Not meaning to say that this is what you came here for) Good luck to you!! Know that we will always be here should you need support throughout any of your life's challenges and/or pitfalls!!
