I repetitively listen to the same artist and the same albums/cds since his first album in the 1980's. I added to my collection as the artist produced new music. Sad to say, he has since died in 2005. I have driven my sisters crazy, roommates batty and later, my husband loopy for the same reason. I can listen happily to the same 15 songs (cd) all day if it hits me to do so. I normally just rotate all the albums but this is the only music I play 98% of the time. Thank goodness for Walkmans, Cd players, MP3, etc. I play the songs at least once a week -mostly more. I was wondering if anyone had any insight as to why I need to do this. Does anybody else do this?

I'm a music lover, but I remember a time when I literally only listened to Pink Floyd's "The Wall". I'd listen to one side (this is back when we still had TAPES!) flip it, listen, flip, listen, flip...you get the idea. For months and months I did this. Another time I did the same thing with a Blind Melon cd. Sometimes certain music just really resonates with me in my current situation and I find the music soothes me, or sometimes, inspires me.

I don't think you're strange or anything, if that's what you are wondering.

I do the same, as well. When I discover a new artist/cd that I like, I lsiten to it repeatedly until a new replaces. And if a new doesn't happen to come along, I'm perfectly fine with listening to the same, over n over with no problem.
Pink Floyd is my alltime favorite.
My daughter introduces me to alot of new artists, too. She has no problem with me listening to her music. I'm open to all sorts of new sounds.

Lately, though, I've gotten into some new, heavier listenings.
System of a Down is my latest....LOL...so random in some of their works....love it.

Thanks everybody! Yeah, it is very soothing knowing all the words, the very next notes that will play and the next song that will play. Feeling that way was making me feel a little more crazy (Bipolar) . Now I will just sit back, enjoy and jam!
