Don't smoke?

I've been smoking since I was 14, (that's going on 38 years now). I smoke about a pack a day, (however during my stressful cycles, which aren't too often, that can increase double, depending on the stress factor).

Fortunately, I have no symptoms from smoking...YET.
I've never before felt the need or desire to quit throughout my years, in fact I enjoy smoking...HOWEVER...this past year the idea of quitting has been entering my mind more often than not, anymore. And to me, that indicates the time's approaching to quit. And I know once I choose to quit "for me", the task won't be AS difficult.
(I want to "choose" to quit before I reach a point where I'm forced to quit....make sense?)

I don't even understand why you're attempting to smoke if it's causing you these side effects now. It's a simple answer to your question, (which I assume you're already more than aware of), DON'T SMOKE !

It's a STUPID habit. Filthy, inconsiderate of those around you, destructive to your body, discolors the walls with that disgusting yellowing nicotine (and settles on just about anything else, if exposed long enough), is the cause to death, some fires & car wrecks, illegal in indoor public places, (and in some cities, even outside), illegal in your OWN car if in the company of children under the age of 18 and, of course is one hell of an expense.

So, there it is there. WHY even start?
Because it's "cool"? Let me remind you what cool REALLY is....Refraining from smoking.....now, THAT'S cool....

ohh see I'm with Shangrla on this one, it's best to quit now, I don't smoke often, but when I started (I was 15 I think) it became a tool for dealing with stress, now everytime I'm severly triggered or stressed I turn to smoking, during the summer when my job gets incredibly stressful and I'm dealing with trainees I find myself smoknig a pack a week, not good since I have allergies and am very prone to getting respitorary infections and illnesses, and my family is at high risk for heart dieasese.

I don't know the answer to your question, I've never had that problem, but please find a healthier way to handle stress instead of smoking, I know I wish I had never picked it up and I will go all winter without touching a pack or a smoke, but as soon as summer rolls around I"m smoking a pack a week to deal with stress from my job and I can't quite seem to break that habit.

Best Wishes

I agree with Shangrala. Please, please don't continue to smoke. My mother and all my brothers smoked while I was growing up, so you would think I would too - but I don't. No point mentioning the health risks because everyone knows them. My husband smokes and my daughter, the other day got a calculator and tallied up how much money he's spend over 30 yrs. Also there are over 5,000 chemicals in tobacco and your mouth will smell like an ash tray. In the 60/70's they used to make it look cool on commercials and shows but it's not even considered cool anymore. Be kind to your body - only put good things in it. I was always the one to clean the ash trays when I was a kid - gross. Sure there might be the occasional smoker who doesn't get sick but you don't want to end up with lung, throat cancer or carrying around an oxygen tanks when you're old. It also causes wrinkles and premature aging.

* I just realized this question is for smokers.

smoking is a terrible habit, I think people should look into the e-cigg technology that are trying to quit, I saw a thread already talking about the issue, it is really worth a try because tobacco products only drain your pocket books and health.

Well of course not for you Shangrala and I don't think the OP has to worry since she's a teenager. It does though to most people.

You know...since you've mentioned the "draining of pocketbook"...I just had to TRY to calculate what my habit adds up to...and OMG..the things I could use that money for instead of nails to the coffin.

Let's see...Here in Cali, a carton of smokes costs $48 bucks, including tax.
10 packs comes in a carton. I smoke (on average) a pack a day. So, that's $48 bucks every 10 days.
Sooo....how much is that inna year? YAY! Math lesson for the day.

Okidey....Now, who knows how to do math?????...ROFLMAO.
I know what numbers look like, but to do something with them to reach an answer never has been my forte...Imma dummy that way. I'm good at some things...math is NOT one of them.
(It's embarrassing enough to admit that I can't even do a simple equasion, but to attempt to and prove myself of that fact ain't gunna happen...lol).

I went from about a pack and a half a day habit at 6$ a pack to spending 30-50 dollars a month with the e-cigg. And I actually like this more than regular cigarettes, I can smoke them in my classes and in my house, they don't smell bad and they taste great. I wish they would have had these things years ago, I would have saved so much money

Dang! That's some savings...
I think I'll look into that as that can be the start to my quitting entirely.

Have you noticed any decline in how much you smoke with those dealies?

Chaosrob - is the e-cigarette similar to the 'green cigarette'. My husband tried that but you get it by mail - he liked it and it prevented him from smoking the real thing. The only problem, was if he was late ordering, then he would go buy cigarettes and now he's back smoking again.

yes it is similar to the green cigarette, and it can be a hassle having to order them over the internet. But they are growing in popularity very quickly and many tobacco shops are starting to carry some brands.

there is a lot of information and I am willing to help out in any way I can because I truly believe there is not a single smoker out there who once they get used to this won't prefer it to regular tobacco. I want to see the big tobacco companies go bankrupt for the way they abused their customers.

Honestly though I only switched out of convenience, I had no desire to quit, I just like these better.

here are some links that can help, I use the blu ecigs, and while it takes a 60$ initial payment what you get is about the equivalent of a cartoon of regular smokes, maybe more and after you have the device it just gets cheaper from there. for those that are willing to do it yourself you can save a lot of money with this method. Lot's of info out there, anyone needs help let me know and i'll share what i can

Please share this information with other people

Thanks for the links, chaosrob.

This is extremely interesting. At that price, how can I go wrong? For me, $60 bucks (compared to what I now spend), is a far more pleasing choice.

I have only 1 question, though. Since I smoke regular strength, is that the strength I should order with the kit? And then later begin to reduce the strength?

Imma go with the Blu, as well.
OOOOHHHhhhhhh..this is a great thing...lmao.

yea I would start with the full flavor strength, you can always use less of it if that's what you want. they are a tad tricky to get the hang of, but once you do I am sure you'll enjoy it. They work great right out of the box, and it can seem overwhelming trying to figure out atomizers and such but the payout is so worth it. I buy my own e-liquid and refill my own cartridges. You can have flavors that taste like deserts, pretty much anything you can imagine. Some people continue to use this after they cut the nicotine out all together because the ingredient has been FDA approved for human consumption.

That is not to say there are no ill health effects. obviously when it comes to doing things in excess anything can be bad for you, but compared to tobacco there is no question which one is the way to go.

I'm excited your willing to try it! It's a great experience. I had half a carton left when I got mine in the mail and those lasted me like a month and a half, I only smoked them because it seemed like a waste to throw them away.

You order refills, (or liquid) on the same site, as well?

I'm trying to compare the two. Does yours have a battery device you plug in, to recharge it? Is it U.S. made because the green cig. is from India I think.

Someone once told me smoking was the slowest, most expensive form of suicide. It's a horrible habit and really hard to quit. But I really urge anyone who smokes to quit as soon as they can. It's not impossible, just difficult.

I buy my liquid from different sites. there are a lot of places out there to choose from. I just ordered some from tasty vapor where they let you pick flavors and strengths

I'll do a short video showing what the components are and everything, it'll take me about an hour probably to get it uploaded and what not, so check back if your interested

hmmmm.... I wonder how many people in my family has died from the complications from smoking, counting them and family of friends that would make 4 if I'm just counting my grandma and great-aunt and two mothers for two different friends... if I'm counting great grandparents and stuff I might need to go to two hands. I don't hate people who smoke, I hate their habit. Thankfully some siblings have quit over the years...

Thanks Rob for going to all that trouble to educate us. It's looks the same as the Green Cigarette. I didn't know you can refill them yourself. Just be careful the refill substance doesn't have any harmful additives. Very interesting and thanks again.

I quit almost 60 days ago with nicorrette... I only chewed it for a month and then my husband got on chantix and quit so even though I still wanted a cig we sorta quit at the same time... its so good for you... I love being able to put on lotion and actually be able to smell it.. and moving my head and get a wiff of my shampoo... that may sound silly but before I couldnt smell anything and all I smelled like was a walking ciggerette.. yuck
