When I was tested my IQ was 130. I think IQ number by itself doesn't say much. Like I am really good with concepts in science and I like technical writing. But my math skills are terrible and I don't have a very good memory to recall facts. And I like doing some creative things like art and playing trumpet but I cannot dance whatsoever because I am really clumsy.

How about you? Are you particularly good in some areas and weak in others? Do think that is typical or do you think it is unusual?

I think my mom said mine was 141. That was before the alcohol... the "self-medicating" herbs... etc. I once read that IQ testing gets its truest results at around the age of 10. WAY to many things in my life sense then. Though for fun, I do like to take the online IQ tests (not accurate). Like someone said, there are numerous types of intelligence. If you want some fun though... check out www.mensa.org and do their mensa workout.

LOL Sabrina, by nature of the fact that you do not comprehend text speak, would in my books, put you above the average discerning IQ.

I think we should start a social club for the correct usage of the english language.

On an aside why should kay be sensitive about taking an IQ test can someone enlighten me?

Well...I clicked the link to take the test, thinking, "Oh boy. This should be fun".
I got as far as, I think, the 3rd question....and closed site...ROFLMAO.

Either I need a LOT more coffee in me, or I've gone brain dead in my old...er years. Too much strain on this brain....lols.

(Guess that must mean that my IQ must be well below the average, as I lost interest in it so quickly.....funny).
That's OK, though. I still know how to boot up system. I'm perfectly satisfied with that.......

I've never put much faith in standardized testing of any sort but if you want an example of being good in one thing and a disaster in another you should have seem my first GMAT results. I think I scored 640 or something acceptable - not quite good enough to get into the really top schools but good enough to get in somewhere, it's how the results were split that was funny. I was in the top 97'th percentile in terms of language and logic, and in the bottom 6'th percentile in the maths. So I took a prep course with a view to retaking the test. That got my math scores up to the 50'th percentile and my overal score up to 720 which combined with some really good and selectively chossen reference letters from major donors to the school got me into my first choice school. But when I got accepted and got my acceptance package they included a note saying they'd never seen a GMAT score so widely split between verbal and mathematical ability (lucky they didn't see the first score) and strongly suggested I take a math's refresher before the semester started. I didn't instead I made friends with an engineer who couldn't write to save his life, and I helped him write his essays, and he helped me with the math enough to graduate with a finance degree. Today I'm a designated accountant and I basically do math all day.

I was most definitely annoyed to learn that my high school algebra teacher was right, and that you do use algebra in the real world

What I think is really neat are the people who are older...okay, I guess my age (47) who go back to college. They are truely inspiration to me! IQ to me is about how it is used.
Thanks for this!

Learning textspeak? One sign of an intelligent person is someone who can grow and accept new ideas and communication methods that includes textspeak and English is a proper noun.

I hope you know I'm teasing!

I have ne'er taken an I.Q. test. Does that make me stupid?

I always like to learn to "ken" ideas, as opposed to memorizing them......it took me a whole month to "ken" the idea of "osmosis."

I like it like that. (that's a song, isn't it?) theo
