I heard regular mayonaise works -leave it in for 30 min and rinse out. I also heard things like olive oil, avacado, almond oil are all good for dry hair. I haven't tried any of these. To avoid damaged hair don't use very hot water when showering, don't over process hair(bleaching, straightening products etc). Don't use straightening irons or curling irons too often.

Lynn has some good advice. I use a good quality conditioner every time I shampoo and that helps. If you are you using hot devices, blow drying, straight irons etc. You definitely need a conditioning product.... Good luck!

Yes I have used vinegar but not for the dry hair problem. Vinegar is great to use after shampooing and what it does is, removes product residues like hair sprays and gels that are stuck on the hair. Just make sure you tilt your head back at the way to avoid getting it in your eyes(ouchies). You can buy a deep oil treatment in grocery and pharmacies. We own a salon and there a good treatment called Moroccan Oil but it's very expensive.

I make a mixture of Mayo and olive oil. I leave it on my hair for an hour and it works pretty well.

You can always have some sewn in Izzy My sister just read an article last week to use 1 part vinegar and 4 parts carbonated water, soak dry hair for 15 minutes before shampooing. Locks in shine. I havnt tried it yet.

dont use vinegar it will make it dryer.it helps take residue off the hair.you need a ggod stylist to show you the proper conditioning for your hair.there is a difference on the quality you buy.at home use warm honey and let it sit 15 minutes, wash and condition afterwards.be sure if your using hot tools on your hair that you apply a good product for protection, again go to a stylist.do not go to the pharmacy, you will not benefit.they simply coat your hair to make it appear smoother,(for healthier LOOKING hair those bottles usually say.)anyway,i hope that helps.have a good night

Man I could go on all day about my hair, it's so curly and gets so frizzy, and it's really damaged too.
I have a ritual of buying a leave in conditioner and and treatment and putting them in my hair when I wash it at night. When I do my hair before I go anywhere I rinse it with conditioner then put a little bit of leave in conditioner or treatment and then mousse. I know none of that is really HOME MADE treatments though. But the key to growing your hair 'faster' is to take care of it. For you see my dear, you can't actually make your hair grow faster. Some people's hair grows faster than others, and by the time your hair is a few centermetres long the ends of you hair are a few years old. So whatever damage has happened in the years that your hair is growing is all going to make a difference.
So you have to take care of it, plait it at night, eat foods that are good for your hair, and it will affect the outcome of what it looks like.
