We are moving from Washington State to Florida to join our daughter. We have lived here for 11 years and I am feeling overwhelmed. It is effecting my stability.
Any suggestions for packing and selling the house would be very welcome. My head is spinning.
We will list the house in two weeks.

Good luck with selling the house, hopefully it will go fast. When you start to feel overwhelmed, just take a break and go somewhere quiet and take deep breaths. It is going to be very stressful but try to remain calm and think of all the good times you will now have with your daughter.

Boxes, you will need lots and lots also a thick marker pen to mark them with what you have put in them and thick celotape/duck tape.

Also a good time to have a clear out so start taking stuff you don't want to the local charity shop !

Have a good phone round to see who are the cheapest house removals unless you are going to hire a van and do it yourself ?

I find moving an exciting but tiring time so make sure you don't leave things to the last minute try and work ahead of yourself and pack anything and everything you have not used in the last six months first.

(((SunnyD)))--I feel for you--I'm about to move back to NY from Nevada---
It's all so overwhelming. So many things to do.

I'm making lists, Power, gas, forward at P.O. on and on--and all the stuff that others have told you-- I've been doing that too--I got cheap plastic Bins at Walmart----am marking them and writing in a notebook what's in each, as I will have to store them in Long Island whilst I await housing-----

My daughter and her husband--they are taking me in till I get my own apartment.
It's all so scarey---but my son-in-law (4times round Marine) is coming for me; and will do the whole 3 day trip with me and my dog---------what a relief!!!

You're moving from a house---I did that from New York 4 years ago-- 23 years of
accumulation---it was so much to do----see if you can sell stuff, if you can--I just threw it out or left it in the house-----also had charities take a whole lot of stuff.

Not unlike the baggage we carry around in our minds---there is so much stuff we
collect through the years------

A new Life!!!--the lighter you travel, the better--I wish you a safe and comfortable
trip-------------------------------------theo

Thanks to all that have answered.
I decided to pack up the for sure keep, like my china. It was easy as about half of it is still packed..my daughter wants it.
The kids we are leaving are coming to help with my first yard sale and help with the touch ups. What a blessing they are to us.
About 12 noon I will just give most of it away..any left overs will go to the Salvation Army.
I am hoping our kids will take much of our important but can not take things. There are some things to sell on Craigslist. I went to the Goodwill today to price things. I am going to put those prices on things to start.
We will probably list the house in a couple of weeks. I am not sure how soon it will sell. There seem to be a lot of folks selling their houses here. Ours is the best one of course.
Please keep the suggestions and support coming..
