I broke down and bought a mountain bike today . I do a lot of walking but it doesn't seem to get the heart pumping enough.
There are many long dirt roads in the area. Wish me luck.

sounds like a lot of fun, find some ridin buddies, explore, and enjoy. Make sure you have the proper safety gear.
Thanks for this!

That's great Babysteps - go out and enjoy the summer when you can. Get yourself a good helmut - not just kids need them. Good luck.

Have fun on your new bike. May you never get caught in a rainstorm, unless you want to.
Thanks for this!

I bought a bike I love last year from Canadian Tire - most Canadians know this store. It's specifically built for a woman, not just a typical men's frame, with the top bar slanted. It's so comfortable.

I admire anyone who rides a mountain bike. Me...I like a fat tire cruiser with the old fashioned foot brakes, basket on front to haul my goodies, LOL!

Yeah .... they were classics. The old rubber horn.
I got a backpack to put my camera and water and food in.
Can you still buy those old style bikes Patty?

Great idea, Chris.

About three months ago I bought a Honda scooter. Wish I had ridden a bike more before doing that. I used to ride motorcycles years ago and the scooter is like riding a bike...you do all the controls with your hands..steering, brakes, turnsignals, acceleration (of course there's the peddling) but my point is, I was used to riding regular motorcycles and couldn't get used to doing everything with my hands and it drove me crazy.......and into some rocks and a few hedges, too. I've really struggled. I should have STARTED on a bicycle. THEN moved up to a scooter. Sounds weird, I know but I just wasn't used to my feet not doing anything at all on a motorized vehicle! I hope you have many enjoyable hours. Take it slowly if you are not used to it...work up to your max.
