For the first time in my life, I've finally begun to see a therapist, (have seen her twice now).
The primary direction she feels that I should strive for is how to view my own self-worth.
She gave me some "homework" to do. Two specific objectives, one I have already done (the job resource search). The second was to get some of my artwork out into the public view so to prove to myself that my work is worthy of selling, (as well as to learn how to receive constructive criticism).

I have this huge fear of failure. And I always talk myself out of anything which might put myself into a position where I may be judged, (even if it's positive). I have difficulty with criticism, therefore have never tried to sell my work, (for the great fear that I will be rejected).
Granted, I am fully aware that there will always be those who do not find my work worthy and that's perfectly fine, (I can accept that because I've never deliberately put myself in a position to hear it for myself. Does that make sense?). My objective is to overcome that fear of mine...the sense of failure.

Anyway~ My therapist wants me to put out at least one piece of my work on a sight where it can be viewed. Since I already have a couple art albums on this site, I thought that maybe I can ask you peeps to take a look at my work, and let me know what you think. Honesty is the objective, so I need your HONEST opinion of what you think of my work.

I thank you all in advance for your honesty, as this is something I have to learn to deal with...constructive criticism.

Thankies~

I am not the right person to answer this post, but I didn't want to leave your request unanswered. I don't know art. Unlike most people, I can't even say, "I don't know art but I know what I like." cause I don't. However, I can't see a quality difference between your work and what I pass by in shop windows.

I'm north of you a bit (not too far) in a really REALLY gay and lesbian friendly hamlet. My wife's beadwork is on consignment in one of the stores who was only too happy to carry it. I expect that your work, especially that with the female theme or female/female theme would not only be welcomed but sell. If you are interested and PM me I will send you the contact info for the store.
Thanks for this!

Hi Shangrala--Where do I go to look at it?---sorry; I'm still not good with computer--

would love to see your work; and I always do my best to be honest, especially when someone asks for it.

Love art--one of the many reasons I gotta get out of Las Vegas-no architecture, no museums--nuttin--

I took a look at your profile and I'm impressed - I think you're very good. You're good at various artwork and particularly good at the animated pictures. I think the ones that have nudity would be appealing to feminist fans. Maybe you should look into some form of animation for a career, since you live in California. The cat photo - is that a photo? So yes I think you're very talented IMHO.

Hi there,

I took a look at your profile and the album that contains some of your artwork...and I was very impressed. I really liked many of your pieces, but I must say that your work entitled "AngelSorrow" captivated me especially. You definitely have the potential to sell your artwork...it's very good.
Thanks for this!

Theo~

Left click on my name and you will see a drop-down list of options. Click "view profile", (will take you to my profile page). On the right side, scroll down some and you'll see "My Albums". click on that.
I have two art albums. One is of various works, another of painted portraits done with my corel painter program.

Thanks for your included opinion....

The cat "Callie" was taken from a photo, although I painstakingly copied/reproduced it on my art tablet and using my Corel PainterX program. Turned out as one of my best & most accurate pieces. It's of my brother's cat. I burned the image to disc and then took that down to have transfered onto canvas. Turned out pretty nice.

I must admit that ever since I've gotten my tablet and the Corel program, I haven't gone back to painting directly to canvas..(I miss it, and need to get back into that), although I do continue to paint on other mediums, such as the Ostrich egg, for example, as well as the murals I love to do.

Thanks for your compliments. I truly appreciate it...

While not a huge fan of some of the styles, I did enjoy your collection. *Usually not a fan of the "japanimation" or "precious moments" type of characters. I still enjoyed them. They tended to each have their own personality, and composition. They all felt different. Different hardnesses in the brush use was great. It isn't always full on or full off but a very subtle, perfect blend. I must say that the image of the cat I honestly thought that it was a photograph. I didn't get why it was with the drawings. Great job. I really wish that I could see that Ostrich egg in real life though. That looked AMAZING. Actually saw a show a few weeks back of a guy that works on Ostrich eggs (mainly carving the layers with lattice, etc) Thousands of Dollars. With the skill you already show, I have no doubt that you can at least make a decent living on the side with some of your artwork. Nice collection.

Thank you.
That piece represented a time when something I had been hoping for sort of fell through, leaving me feeling as though all hope had fallen leaving me with much sorrow.

Thanks again for compliment...

Thank you so much....

Yeah, I sorta placed the painting of Callie in both albums and never removed it out of the sketch album....I isk laziezzzz....lol.

Although the Ostrich egg was one hell of a challenge, I have to admit, it was the most fun to do. Used a few different techniques I'd never tried before...(learned as I went along sort of thing). I'd definitely do it again, if I had more eggs.......with a variety of images, of course.

Thanks again....

Since you said you do murals - how about you advertise. Many people with kids don't mind forking out the bucks for their kids room. If you get a job take a picture and start an album. Restaurants also love murals, so advertise that you're capable of different concepts, not just kids rooms. If you do a mural for a restaurant, have them put your business cards on display. You could even design a web page with your art work and mural talents.

I am not an art aficionado. Even so I am impressed with your work. The cat is amazing, as is the ostrich egg.
Thanks for this!

shang, we haven't talked in forever :]

last year when we would talk almost every day, you showed me alot of stuff through MSN. i really loved your flyff characters. to be honest, though, i think you shine through your painted portraits. they just look so...real, like camera took a snapshot, not like you drew it.

anywho, if you wanted me to pick a favorite, it would be the one of you and roxi. of course, lol. or you and your son, i really liked that one too.
