Just logged in online to balance my checkbook and found an unauthorized charge on my account, so I have to call the bank STAT in the a.m. There was enough of a description for me to find the web page and know what was purchased, too.
Has this happened to anyone else, and if so, how was this explained to you...as in, how could this happen? One charge seems odd, not that I am welcoming multiple, rampant charges or anything. (Knock on wood.) This is stressing me out quite enough, and I wish it were 8:30 a.m. so I could get this taken care of. ![]() |

That has happened to me too. The bank's fraud people attributed it to a hacker and suggested I get a shredder.

I'm happy that I can file a complaint or comment online, without having to wait til morning. I would contact the website also, to try and prevent them sending the item, or stop it on it's way through fed ex or UPS. As for the shredder? IDK about that. I've been shredding all my data... whether on fax film (which I melted) or anything ANY thing with my name or address etc on it....well, for at least 10 years. The ID theft/ fraud that has occurred with my accounts (4x in the last 6 years) have all been through the credit card employees they hired to safeguard my information. ![]() I don't write checks any more, but if I did, I wouldn't ever throw them out LOL Let my kids do that when I die. ![]()
