Traditionally having a very fast, sexy sports car, meant sacrificing the environment and fuel efficiency. The engineering wizards at Porsche Ag, have found away to have your cake and eat it too!!

The 918 Plug-in Hybrid supercar has been given the go ahead by VW/Porsche management. It will utilize a 500Hp V8 teamed with 3 eletric motors to add an additional 200 plus HP.

Performance is expected to be 0-60 in 3.2 seconds, but the real kicker is that driven within the confines of everyday driving (that is for you, not Michael Schmaker) the car will get an astounding 78 Miles per gallon, making it the most fuel stingy car in production.

Price... well if you have to ask...

Thank you Porsche for showing us along with Tesla motors, that going green does not have to mean dowdy bubble cars with golf cart performance.

Wow that's one super looking car. Pricey I'm sure and I wouldn't be surprised if I start seeing some in my neighborhood.

Tim, i just wanted to say - I have less than zero(is that possible lol) interest in cars, but i become interested by your writing. I'd say that makes YOU one damned effective writer. Have yu thought of starting a blog for yourself?

you give me far too much credit. I have a blog on myspace and tried setting one up on p-central but I never could get it to work.

The VW group has a lot of talent in its employ. The secret here is realatively light weight, 3 electric motors and an arm's length list of technology

Ooh, I like it!! ... Heh, no way I'll ever get one though. Still, lovely to look at and I'm glad to hear there are some environmentally friendly and fuel efficient alternatives for sports car afficianados coming out.
