Ok, I'm on my lunch break, so I'll make this quick-
It seems like in the work world, people are sharks! They're always trying to undermine me. I'm got let go one time because people made me look bad, other times, it was the economy, but either way, there always seems to be someone that hates me for no reason. Most people like me and say that I'm real nice. Right now I don't work in an office and work in a ghrocery store, but I want to find something else, because the job bores me, but honestly, I'm a bit scared to go back to all that drama. I get irritated and want to be a 'witch' but that's not me, and it makes me no better than the people that have caused me so much pain in the past. Agh. I wish I just could be a writer as a profession or work with the elderly, as I get along with them better anyway. I;m sure even then there would be other young orderlys that would hate me too.

((( LabLover ))))

It happens often that other people take advantege of the nice person in the office, dumping their responsibilities on them and blaming them for their own failures. The nice person bites off the short end... On the other end, you can't expect the whole world to like you... although that's an ideology that so many of us uphold and we live our lives to please others, regardless of our own values and worth, we give up more of ourselves than is healthy and when we end up drained, alone in some dark alley of depression, we look around and there is no one...

((LabLover)) - sorry you're having work problems. I understand it's difficult to when to be assertive sometimes and you end up feeling taken advantage of. I hope you end up feeling better soon.

Greetings,

From all I have noticed, these days, the attitude of the general public seems to be darkening, not just in the workplace. I mean, the human race has been on this Earth for so long and yet we have only come so far. In some viewpoints we are backtracking, in others we are slowly moving towards an unescapable trap of doom( pardon my negativity, though, this is just what I have been speculating). After all, we gain freedom from some things and yet find ourselves enslaved by other aspects of life, all the while, we curse and add to our grief with pessimissm and negativity( again, this is merely a viewpoint).

Of course, there are many who believe it is the general human attitude which is sabotoging our happiness. Some are fed up, others believe it has and always will be survival of the fittest, and well, there are even those who still feel they rank higher than their fellow man, not to mention, those who refuse to cooperate with authority in the name of rebellion. Nonetheless, despite the various opinions we possess, as whole, peace does not seem to want anything to do with it.

I apologize for rambling. Being mentally ill, I know I may not always be in the reality of things, but I know that keeping a positive attitude, these days, is the best weapon mankind can have. Especially when it comes to tolerating others.

I hope you understand.

Have a good one.

Thanks for the kind words. I'm just frustrated. I used to be majorly down most of my life with huge social anxiety. and I've been in therapy and have been on meds and now amgetting better and am so happy to finally be happy and able to focus more on what I want to do with my life and now it seems some people are singling me out seeing me as 'the shiny happy person' even though I've never been that, or they're just jealous of my good work ethic I don't know. It's so frustrating I just want to lash out at them csometimes but am a strong believer in taking the high road, no matter how hard it is. Because, knowing my luck, I'd get fired for losing my temper, and I really can't afford that now. =(

Dear Lablover,

I have never been one to say "why me?" I have always said, "why not me?" I am simply one of the masses. Why shouldn't I have bad luck once in a while? As long as I am the best ME I can be, that's all I can ask. In retrospect, I've had my share of bad things but many, many more good things by simply being who I am and taking the bad with the good. Life cycles (verb). It will for you, too.

Lablover, I can certainly relate, especially since I suffer from some social anxiety, too. I've been down today, in fact, one of those bad times when I start dwelling on all the bad things that life has thrown at me. I've learned that I can only do the best I can, and some people will like me and others will have no use for me. I used to be a teacher and when I'd read my student evaluations, it was like students were sometimes seeing two different people, one who "walked on water as an excellent teacher" and one who, to be dramatic, "should be drowned because she was such a sorry excuse for a teacher." Alas, I think it's human nature for people to be critical, and yes, I, too, believe that people are becoming less and less kind toward each other. Even writers have their critics, as I can attest to from personal experience, and old people can be bitter and complaining. I do try to be positive, but, as I say, I can certainly understand where you're coming from!
