At the moment South Africans are experienceing a halo around the sun, which is apparently a rare phenomena.
http://www.news24.com/SciTech/News/J...ained-20101101 It's caused by ice crystals reflecting the light from the sun. After blinding myself I saw it too... it looks weird.

I can see it too, although I don't live in Johannesburg, maybe CT is a bit too far?... Wish you could see it, it's really cool...
