I have no idea where to put this.. but oh well. I hate living in apartment. I have many reasons why I hate it, but the main one is our upstairs neighbours. Not only do they have dogs that you can hear barking, and their nails scraping the floor at 3am (these people let their dogs use the balcony as a bathroom as well and it ALWAYS dripped down on ours until my Dad complained about it 500 thousand times) but they also like to hammer nails into the wall, and power drill things from 11:30pm - 5am. Just about 5 minutes ago they turned on that stupid power drill which woke up everyone! They also like to try and bounce marbles.. constantly..

Are people just not considerate anymore of those around them?? Who in their right mind wants to drill holes in the wall at 11:30 at night when you have all day for that matter!?!?!?!

It is very frustrating to have neighbors like that. There are usually quiet hours designated either by the township or landlord, but my husband and I were shift workers for years and while everyone thought it was perfectly ok to make as much noise as you wanted to at noon, this was actually the "middle of the night" for my husband and I.

I understand that life can be noisy, but I find barking dogs and crying babies are particularly irritating. Have you tried to contact your landlord or condo association?

I'm not sure actually, but I know my Dad has complained quite a bit. They don't really do anything about it though. My building has a nice apperance and all that, but the staff and system of it over all really sucks. I mean.. really.. really sucks.. like they invade your privacy every month for "inspections" and they'll test the fire alarms every month or two which means blaring fire bells every 5 seconds for three hours. I could go on about why this landlord company sucks but I wont.

My family doesn't make any noise.. which is why we find it frustrating when you have someone that really loves to drill holes in their walls that lives right above you. I also understand that life can be noisy but.. there are a lot of people here who love to make unnecessary noise at inappropriate times.

Yeah, there's always that one family. At our last apartment our upstairs neighbour moved around his living room every evening at around 6, played catch with his dog for two hours and then moved it all back.. I have no idea why he just didn't take the poor thing to the park!

During the summer, these past few years there have been these two couples who love to use the front drive way as a great arguing spot. One was a teen couple who used to argue outside about every other week, and the second had the cops called on them cause he was threatening to kill her!

I've had a very unstable neighbour come to my house with her wrists cut open, crying, needing to call her church but not letting me call 911. That same woman has been seen on the curb so many times having breakdowns, having the cops and abulances brought over..

I mean, it's a really nice looking apartment building, but there are just so many horrible secrets on display here!!

Sadly, it's not much better in an actual house either. I have a loud and rude neighbor within one or two houses in every direction and across the street. People just seem to be so oblivious to their rudeness...

Greetings,

Perhaps you should move, before your hate flourishes any more. Especially if your landlord cannot do anything about the nuisance/s

Have a good one.

I can understand how you feel . I moved into a condo and the first night the mother allowed her 13 year old kid to have a party all night long. I couldnt believe it. I really upset me. However the husband was not aware of this. and when he found out they were divorced. lucky me. but i will tell you that i would have sold my place in order to get away from them

We tried moving but we didn't get the house we wanted. We're also broke, struggling with money since my Dad had to go through chemo, lost a lot of money in the stocks, then broke his ankle twice. He had to take time off work to help my brother with school and then he had to come in late everyday for almost 4 years to again help my brother with school. Plus all our cars breaking down every year Plus with the recession and my father's company went on stike for like 6 months last year..

It's a big struggle with money for us. We would move if we could but finding some place affordable is hard.

When my husband was in the military we had those inspections. My own personal opinion was that they were checking to make sure that the dwellings were in good order.

If you (father) have tried approaching them civilly to no avail and the landlord is no help, look into local quiet laws and get the police involved.

Oh dear. Well that's one advantage to living out on a farm. Our nearest neighbors are 500 yards away... I could imagine what a life we'd be putting our neighbors through with our little autie and my beeping from time to time. This way we keep our general nuttiness to ourselves. hang in there, Hon. Sorry to hear that they are so inconsiderate!
