Come on in, sit down, have a cup of coffee and put your feet up!

Friday Cafe Is Now Open

I may be a newby to this forum, but I am not new to forums in general.
I have seen this work to varying degrees at other forums and I really like the concept.

Basically what it is, is the place to come in and say hello when you first log in for the day, to say goodbye when you log off for the day and in the meantime, a place to tell each other about your day, what your plans are, if you feel like sharing and the occasional joke or good natured ribbing at someone.

Basically a place to come in, relax, and escape from our collective maladies, if even for a minute or too.

So...let's open the cafe;

For me, this day can't get over soon enough, as I am so looking forward to tomorrow. But in the meantime, I have to work my 2 jobs.

So good morning everyone!

By the way, this is a daily thing. So tomorrow someone could start a Saturday Cafe, then a Sunday and so on....

Thanks forpetessake - my mother used to say 'for petes sake' when she was frustrated - this is a fun idea for a thread. Well today's a day off for my kids from school - they call it a PA day. My older daughter was making a banana/blueberry with orange juice smoothie. We have a big bin of frozen blueberries we picked in the summer.

So I took my dog Bella out and came in to find about 300 frozen berries on the floor. My youngest didn't put them back in the freezer level - so when the door opened they fell out of the container lol. So I'm typing with blue stained fingers. We're going to have pizza for lunch and then my youngest is going for a play date with her friend and me and my oldest are going to exercise together later. So aside from the mishap of blueberries, my day is going fine.

Not really worried about anything at the moment, which is a good thing. I am just excited about tomorrow's concert.

My day is going great too. I've got a loaf of bread in the oven, permeating my house with a wonderful smell like no other. I lost my cell phone last week, and someone called to say they found it...I'm so glad I didn't rush out and buy a new one. My son, who did a fender-bender to his car found out it won't be ready for another week, which adds to the previous well-deserved grounding (he was texting "at a stop light" and "drifted" into the car in front of him). Plus, my husband has the day off, so is going with me to do some errands...makes it almost fun. Let's hope I pull dinner off without a hitch and the day will be a total success.

Great idea for a thread Forpetessake! I haven't found time to log in all day so will pop into the cafe now for a cup of tea before dinner :-)

Lynn P, is that the kind of day off when the school is shut for staff development? I used to love those I've never heard PA day, does PA stand for something? At my school we used to call them 'Baker Days', after the Education Secretary that brought them in in the UK! I don't think anyone says that anymore though - Kenneth Baker didn't make much of an impact on political history I guess...
Thanks for this!

In the meantime, if you guys like this cafe thingy, someone will need to open a thread tomorrow and Sunday.

Good night everyone.

Bugsy - I'm not sure what PA stands for - they sometimes call it PD and that stands for 'professional development day' - something about teachers organizing something lol. It's great because it seems like a long weekend.

I first heard that joke at a small airport... the instructors had put a "for sale" notice about a HenWeigh... like it was an aircraft... always a guudwone!

Heee, he - I admit I cheated with the 'henweigh joke'. I've never heard that one before and I easily fall for jokes, but I sensed Byz was up to something, so I looked it up.

I'm also wondering how the performance that forpetessake was in, turned out? I hope it went fantastic.

I went to the same store I work at. It was amazing how much wheeling a cart around was so unnerving. Even the parking lot. Glad to be home.
Gosh I need a nap.
