Hi folks,

Wickedwings has numerous reasons for needing the money, but it includes dealing with expenses from not getting SSI/SSDI benefits she's been trying to get since 2006, this horrible economy, and especially for medical care for her cats and dog who've been going without to the point where it's now become a serious concern for one of them. So she's asked for a Community Connection Grant from our nonprofit, the Psych Central Community Connection.

I know these are rough economic times for many people, but I want you to seriously consider donating to this Community Fund Drive. I know that a financial contribution may not be possible, so if that's the case, please leave your prayers and thoughts privately or in this thread.

Psych Central will match dollar for dollar of every dollar donated (up to the maximum of $250; $500 total to the member). Every dollar counts, so even if you can afford just $5, please consider this request.

Donations can be made through PayPal to us at:

http://psychcentral.org/donate/

Otherwise, send your check or money order (no cash, please) to:

Psych Central Community Connection
55 Pleasant St., Suite 207
Newburyport, MA 01950

Everyone who donates gets access to our exclusive Poohbah Forum, and our thanks for helping out another member in need in our community. In addition, donations are tax deductible as allowable by law, as the Psych Central Community Connection is a recognized 501(c)3 public charity.

This Community Fund Drive will run for approximately one week; donations will close on Monday, November 22, 2010.

As always, I thank you for your kind consideration and support.

Best,
DocJohn

wickedwings As a pet lover I know the close meaning an animal has and how their undying love is the greatest therapy one species can show another without asking for anything in return.

I pray that you find some solution to your situation very soon

wishing you the best

I tried to help but there are issues with my PayPal account that evidently need to be resolved. I will send my hugs and prayers instead.
Thanks for this!

I want to thank you all for sending any donations for fund drive. Even if you cannot donate, I really do appreciate your concern and compassion. It has been a very bad time lately because my husband just lost his job and we have nothing to pay with. The COBRA costs $800 per month. Our house payment is $535 per month, so you can see how ridiculous this is. I'm still fighting for SSDI/SSI.

Right now, I'm not mentally all with it, since my GAD reared its ugly head and my psychiatrist had to put me on Clonazepam. It's a long nightmare for us. So far, my pets are stable at this point. I am hoping that my oldest cat will be somewhat easy to treat. They all need dental cleaning, rabies vaccines. My dog needs to have his claws cut way back while under anesthesia because the quick grows so close to the tips that my groomer can take only so little off in trimming.

No matter what happens, I am in a terrible need of funds. My pets will be cared for, no questons. If I am lucky to have any left-over, I will use it to pay for my medical bills, prescriptions, etc.

I will keep you updated on my situation. I have told my mother of the fund drive, so hopefully she has sent a donation, however small that be. I hope she tells the other family memebers, so they can also donate. Not just for me, but for others in need. If and when I have the means, I will most definitely donate to help others out. It may be a long time before I can send even $5, but it will come eventually.

I am so very grateful to have wonderful here at PsychCentral. Thank you so much, DocJohn. This means so much to me.

You all have a great day. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving, if by any chance I don't get back to this before then.

From the Bottom of My Heart,
wickedwings

Oh, my God! That was seriously fast! I just recieved the grant check. I'm goin to either put it into my account or cash it. As I will be away at a friends' house until Monday, I will be phoning up my vet and make some appointments for my furries. I'm ungodly tired as I had worked hard today reorganizing my home. I will keep you all updated. Thank you sooooo much! Take care and have a good Thanksgiving!
