My psych hospital just put out a call for applications for people who want to become involved as volunteer members of it's various governing committees. I thought why not, so I applied. I don't know if being a patient will help me or hurt my chances, but I know a lot about mental health care, and have my MBA and my accounting designation, so I think I might be useful. I'm going in with really low expectations, but it would be fun if something came of it.

I've been on an advisory committee for my local mental health agency. They actually seek out "consumers" for their input! So, I think it could be a good thing! Good for you for applying, and I hope it works out how it needs to be!
