For all of you night owls out there, there will be a total lunar eclipse starting at 12:33 Central Time. Here is a link about it:

Thanks for the link NuckingFutz! I would love to see this but unfortunately it's stormy here and visibility is very poor. I'll be looking out for it anyway though!

Hey! You beat me to posting about this. Not only is it a total lunar eclipse, it's happening on the winter solstis. Last time that happened was 1638.

I'm in the Eastern time zone. The eclipse is suppose to start around 1:30AM here with totality around 3AM. I'm going to set my alarm and go to bed in a few minutes. I'll get up again near totality.

My family will be staying up late, braving the freezing night air, to watch it. I have to work tomorrow so I can only see the first part. Thanks for sharing.

It's too cold for me to be moon viewing tonight (18 degrees F). The last lunar eclipse I saw was about 15 years ago when my son was in grade school. He stayed up to see it and did his science fair project on lunar eclipses and got a blue ribbon.

I can see it!!!! The storm clouds have cleared and I can see the shadow very clearly over one edge of the moon!!! The moon hasn't changed color yet but perhaps it will later. I think the eclipse will take a good hour or so. Even if the moon doesn't change color, it's still very cool to see the shadow like this! Wow! This is exciting!!!!!

I don't think that is gonna happen. They are still talking flash floods and an inch of rain an hour so I figure I will just be watching the video.

I have seen many an eclipse but the fact that it is falling on solstice is thrilling. Maybe I will be around in a few hundred years and can catch it again. LOL

You do have something warm to drink right?

Yes, it's pretty chilly out there!! More clouds have appeared now, which is probably just as well because my neck is killing me from craning it for so long!!!

Glad you saw a bit of it! (((((racee))))

Happy Winter Solstice everyone!!

how horrible...somebody should have left a memo to the lunar eclipse a few days ago about how it needs to hold out for at least another week....or just come back in the spring lunar eclipse

Heard on the news this morning that there will be 2 full lunar eclipses in 2011.

Saw in on the morning news as well...second best thing than being there.

I looked out but could not see the moon. Saw a star or two, so it was at least partially clear, but no moon. I am not sure if I was looking in the right direction or not.

Reminds me of another eclipse quite a few years ago when I simply could not see the moon. Sometimes they are so dark (probably because of clouds in the earth's atmosphere) that you cannot see it!
