I no sooner get all comfy and snuggly in bed a I start smelling a hint of perfume. IT was getting so strong that it was burning my nose and throat so I go upstairs to see where this smell is coming from..

AJ just got in from being out "doing his thing" grrr and I ask him what is the deal with the perfume. He said he didn't know and the renter said it was his friend's perfume. SO I ask AJ, do u think they are trying to "cover" anything up. HE said he didn't think so because even if they were, he would be able to smell it.........

The perfume is so strong that it is actually coming through the heat ducts. I had to open my windows to air out the basment because it was so strong. Might not have been that bad if the "perfume" smelled decent. A sickening sweet yucky smell... grrrrrrrrrrr

SO I am up and not a happy camper....They guys either spilled a bottle of after shave cologne/perfume or they deliberately dumped it to cover up any "suspicious" odors.........Just so odd ... 3am and the house is consumed with perfume...........Either I am stupid or the renter is stupid,. Like I've said before, trust doesn't come easy for me... COuld be a preacher of high standing and I still wouldn't trust him l00 percent... As I type this puppy is passing gas... omg.... Am almost laughting now...All these aromas...thinks the gas smells better than the perfume...

some people have almost no sense of smell, they think a lot is a little,, i bet you have one of those upstairs,, you might try puting those filters on your vents, ?? they strain out quite a few things,,, best wishes,, Gus

Gus... actually both AJ and his dad thinks a lot is little. When they perfume up for the night, it is pretty strong. It only lingers in a room for l0 minutes or so and the aroma is gone...... it has never gone through the heating vents to the basment or fill the house for hours of aromas.. I could still smell the perfume this morning in the basment and when I went upstairs it was still strong in the air.

The reason I question it is because the "house filled with perfume" very close to the time AJ was expected to be home from his night out......I could be wrong and they could have spilled a bottle of perfume/cologne by accident.... Just really didn't smell all that great at 3am.. nor did it smell that great when I got up this morning...

Filters on vents is a great idea. WIll have to check those out.....

I wish I could be more supportive of others here on PC. Just if I can't solve my own problems how in the world could I give advice to others? I am firm believer to not suggest to others what I myself can't do... Maybe someday I will have some answers.. For myself and maybe for others.......

Ah, soemtimes it is actually that we have areas of expertise, we have a different perspective than anyone else, you see things I can't, I see things you can't just because of where we stand. Drug abusing renters isn't someting I have had to deal with, ethnically murderous drunk fellow travelers on busses is more up my alley Racer, You might have plenty of insight and I hope you don't hush up if you see me on the brink of heck and ready to topple into the abyss!

Yep, there are folks who when they find a good perfume or after shave, see no other alternative than to marinade in it. My hubby has nearly no sense of smell (enither did his dad, so if I wear any, I have to make sure that it is either spicy like sandlewood or very Very strong (embarrasssing) or he doens't register it. Your guys down stairs sound like they might have knocked something over or are ocvering for somenthing.
Do you have a clause that allows you to enter the apartment if you suspect illegal activities? Is that allowed in your state? HUGGGGS

I don't know what they were doing. I mentioned to AJ several times that all of a sudden the house fills up with perfume just around the time he were expected to come home............. First, with all of the issues with AJ, drugs is not one of them. He is totally against drugs. He did say we can't really prove anything, they have to be caught in the act before we can take action.

I do have a clause that if anyone is "caught" with any kinds of drugs, they eat it, smoke it, sniff it, or stick it up their butt, they will have 24 to vacate. No I'm sorry. No second chances. I asked him if he did drugs. He said no. That is all I can do for now. I have to believe a full l0 percent he is telling the truth. I hope he is...

The perfume deal.. I dunno... Could have been an accident. But next time AJ is out and the renter and his friend is alone upstairs, I will make sure to venture upstairs, not once, but serveral times, to make sure nothing is going on that I disapprove of......
