For anyone who knows anything about photography.....I currently have a Canon Rebel Ti 35mm body with the regular 90mm lens plus a 300mm zoom. I am thinking of upgrading to a DSLR but have heard that film lenses won't work on digital bodies? Is this true and why not? I would much rather spend a few hundred on a new body rather than a few thousand on a new body and new lenses. Any info would be helpful!

I found this - http://wiki.answers.com/Q/Will_Canon...digital_camera

I also found this - http://www.answerbag.com/q_view/1006695

It looks to me like if the mounts fit, they can be used. There may be some issues with some of the settings (will have to try them all to see if they work).

When I bought my DSLR, they had a special going on and I got 2 lenses free along with a carry bag and a filter as well. You may be able to find a similar sale especially after Christmas!

Your best bet might be to talk to a well known photography store that knows a lot about specific cameras and lenses. How about taking your 35mm lenses with you when you shop for your new DSLR and try them out before buying.

Good luck with the shopping. I love my DSLR and wish I had more time to go on shoots.

I've been wanting to get a digital Canon EOS since they came out, because I already own an EOS Rebel and have all the lenses. Yes, they do fit.

Someone has reported an issue with a 400mm not stopping down or something, so check with the website or local photographer about your particular choice...and go get 'em!

I figured they would work since it would be going from a Canon to a Canon. I don't have a 400mm lens so hopefully I won't have a problem. I posted a 'wanted' ad on craigslist so maybe I will get someone wanting to sell theirs. I will also check out ebay. Just didn't wanna do the work and buy the body if my lenses won't fit anyways. Thanks!

This months Consumer's Report did an article about digital cameras, it said some of the DSLRs would take the same lenses, some wouldn't... So checking with a phothogrphy store might not be a bad idea...... Good luck!!!!
