Best games of 2010
Once again it is time for my list of the best of 2010. Of course you guys are more than welcome to agree or disagree with my picks. Best Sports Game: Going with NBA 2K11 (PS3, Xbox 360). This title is a superb execution of a basketball sim, with great animation, deep game play and the return of his “airness” Michael Jordon, in his prime. This is a must own for roundball fans who have a PS3 or Xbox 360 ![]() Runner up: MLB, The Show 2010 ( Sony- PS3), the best baseball video game ever made, bar none, PS2 and PS3. ![]() Best driving/Racing: tough call and there were some good ones this year, but Need for Speed Hot Pursuit (Criterion Games-Xbox 360, PS3) gets the prize for slick visuals, intense racing and a lot of fun, especially online. ![]() Runner up-Gran Turismo 5 (PS3) continues to immerse all in the world of autos like no other game. With huge amounts of depth and the best physics of any simulation, this game is still the gear head’s dream. ![]() Best Shooter: I know I will get a lot of grief for this one, but COD Black Ops (Treyarach-PS3, Xbox 360, Wii, PC) by a small margin, packs the usual cinematic flare and huge multiplayer fanbase, not to mention it is on all the major platforms this time around. ![]() Runner up: Bungie’s final installment of the legendary Halo series, goes out with a bang in Halo Reach (Xbox 360), great single player campaign backed by a deep multiplayer mode, make this the preeminent sci-fi shooter for this year. Best RPG: Got to go with Mass Effect 2 for its depth and balance of gameplay. ![]() Runner up Fallout Vegas, Continues the post apocalyptic epic series, also deep and engaging. ![]() Best Platformer: Super Mario Galaxy 2, a terrific followup to the original. “Wiitards” should all have this one in their collection ![]() Best “classic style” (2D) Platformer: Donkey Kong Country Returns, a sweet revival of a legendary character and game. ![]() Best Action/Adventure Game: A close victory for Assassins Creed BrotherHood (UbiSoft Montreal-PS3, Xbox 360), the series keeps getting better. This one has all the usual slick mechanics, backed with an intriguing story, stellar graphics, and some nice strategy elements. Add in a unique take on multiplayer and you have must own here. ![]() Runner Up: God of War 3, (Sony Santa Monica-PS3) Kratos’s vengeance comes to a gruesome end, with this incredible game. Jaw dropping production values combine with some of most epic and intense game play in the history of gaming. ![]() And the Best Game of 2010... Read Dead Redemption (Rockstar Games, PS3, Xbox 360, PC Rockstar has crafted a brilliant take on such “dark” westerns such as the Pale Rider and Unforgiven, RDR is a fantastic tale of one John Marsten. With Red Dead Redemption Rockstar also shows why they are still the masters of open world gaming. With a wonderful script, intriguing characters, slick mechanics, beautiful graphics and massive amounts of game play, Red Dead Redemption is a top drawer production. The multiplayer is a lot of fun as well. ![]() So there you have it for 2010. I look forward to 2011 where we will be seeing such awesome games as Killzone 3, Little Big Planet 2, Crysis 2, and Uncharted 3, Drake’s Deception. |

COD is very strong online with a huge community, I can imagine it is a lot of fun for them to spend time with each other that way.
