Do you make resolutions? If so what is yours?

Mine this year is to get healthier. By that I mean not eat so much junk, exercise more (on Monday I am joining a gym), quit smoking (I threw my cigarettes away today and am on Chantix), and just be nice to myself.

Good luck jbug. That's great that you already started the chantix. I quit years ago.You can do it! My resolution is to restart my diet which means no sugar and to exercise more than I have been.

I am hoping I can really do it this time. My mom just found out she has breast cancer and had surgery to remove the lump and is having radiation now. My dad had colon cancer a few years ago and a heart attack the year after. My Uncle has prostate cancer and my other Uncle died of lung cancer. My mom's biological mom died from emphysema, so there is a lot of reasons I need to quit. I also have asthma and it is winter so my asthma always goes haywire and the last thing I need is to wind up in the hospital because I am smoking on top of having asthma. I have done that way to many times.

I don't really sit down and make a list of resolutions, but I am wanting to "be nice to myself even more" and to "become the best friend, mother, wife, etc." that I can be. That means, making sure I work hard in therapy, communicate well with my doctors and so on.

Congratulations on the plans to stop smoking and take better care of your health. I've never smoked, but I do need to get back to eating more healthy stuff.

I don't make resolutions anymore. I never end up sticking to them, so why bother?

This is just my attitude towards the whole thing, but I do hope everyone else is able to make changes for the better. I'm wishing you guys well

Not a resolution sort of person.....I just try to change things when I realize they aren't working throughout the year.....I call it being observant & adaptable...lol.

Jbug....you sound like you are doing exceptional with stopping your smoking....that is a very wonderful thing to do for your own health. I actually am allergic to smoke of any kind, so never smoked. We had a brush fire where I was living & the smoke from it covered the valley I was living it....it caused me to have asthma....I couldn't breath & ended up in the hospital for 10 days because of that fire. I can definitely relate to your not wanting to end up in the hospital because of smoking & your asthma. Hate the breathing treatments every few hours....even throughout the night......grrrrrr. Much better to stop smoking for sure.

Sending you my best wishes for your success with your resolutions.

I want to get back to my workouts 3x a week (we have a bowflex in the basement). I also plan on really working on changing my negative thinking, working hard on my BPD and other issues. Good luck to everyone else. Thanks for posting JBug!

I've never made any sort of New Years resolution, largely because I have never understood the reasoning behind it.

My intent, never so intense as to be a resolution, is tojust get back on my feet and get back into my usual excersize pattern. If I start getting into the resolution thing it gets too much all or nothing for me, and that just backfires. Slow and steady! Good luck all!
Thanks for this!
