Hi folks,

Throughout the year, we get the occasional request to do something for someone, and many times we're able to answer such requests in a positive manner on our own. This request, however, requires your assistance.

DO NOT REPRODUCE THIS REQUEST ANYWHERE ELSE ONLINE. I CANNOT EMPHASIZE THIS ENOUGH!

This is not a joke -- the request is both legitimate and real. If you're in a position to help out, please feel free to do so by following the instructions below...

Quote:
I work in a psychiatric residential facility in Atlanta with young adolescent males. We work with a variety of diagnoses including Asperger's and Autism. I am writing to ask each of you if you would mail me any white pages, phone books you might have for a young man who is Autistic. He spends hours looking at these books and finds great enjoyment so much so that he has put this on his Christmas list. My goal is to get as many from different states for him. Don't worry if they don't make it here by the holiday as he always loves to receive new books. I thank you for listening and sending whatever you have. Please feel free to forward this to any of your friends and family. I wish you all a Merry Christmas.

The mailing address:

Piper Straw
C/O Laurel Heights Hospital
934 Briarcliff Rd
Altanta, GA 30306

I'm going to be sending out some from where I live, but it would be great that if you have the time this holiday season and want to lighten someone else's life, pop a whitepages into the mail for this young man.

Thanks for your consideration!

Best,
DocJohn

PS - Again, please do not post or link to this request off of our community. Thank you.

New Hampshire is covered!

What a great way to help someone and put a smile on their face and many hours of reading fun!

Thanks so much for posting this DocJohn. This is a small way to help that can bring great reward to those assisting this young man. Warms my heart to be able to send something along to him!

Thanks for this!

Whitepages are a telephone directory book. I'm not sure if you have them elsewhere in the world, but in the U.S., we tend to get them free every year at our homes or businesses.

What a great idea Dr. John,

I'll happily send one from Toronto, Canada.

I see that New hampshire is covered but I want to mention that books can be mailed at a lower cost than other packages under "Media Mail".
Just tell the clerk at the P.O.that you have Media Mail.
