As some of you may know, I recently got engaged. Now, with every great engagement/proposal comes... dun dun dun... Wedding planning! Now, I haven't even figured out where I want to have my wedding (either in WI or MA) and the date will probably be some time in the summer of 2012 (How does June 2nd or 9th sound to people? No secret holidays or anything, right?). I've decided to go with a SLIGHTLY, super super super SLIGHTLY Victorian themed wedding probably with Eggplant and shiny penny copper as the color scheme... But anyways, enough about all that. For favors, we thought that teacups (cheap, hopefully slightly antique-y looking ones from Savers, thrift shops, etc) would be cute, but we want to put something in them. I'm probably going to make some Victorian spinners (these little circle with half a picture on one side and half on the other and when you spin them, they become one picture) to put in the teacups, but we were thinking something edible might be good too.

So, here's my question to all of you!! What's your favorite edible wedding favor? Thanks!!

How about a live rose? People will probably want to keep them to display or drink out of.

Do you have Love Hearts in the US? They are sherbet-like candies with cute messages like 'Be Mine' or 'Hot Lips' printed on them. I see them a lot at UK weddings.

well you can put in some tea bags if you like, since your tea cup idea, love it by the way. pretty ribbon bow with your color theme on handle. and u don't have to have matching cups..makes it more interesting. the english tall tea cups are pretty. it will allow you to put more in them too. how bout cutely wrapped candy hearts in them...since this is about lovewrapped in cellophane and closed with ribbon at top.

Or a piece of Dove chocolate wrapped in red?

Congratulations.

I like the idea of a rose, but I feel like that could get pretty pricey. Plus, I figure since the center pieces will be flowers, guests can take them home if they like (maybe even a potted plant that they could replant?)

The love hearts that Bugsy mentioned are really, really, really popular around Valentine's day, I don't know if they would last 4 months okay (I could always buy a bag this February and eat it in June, see how they are...) But that is a good idea! Definitely one I"ll mention to the boy!

My fiance actually jokingly mentioned tea because, well, they're tea cups! But I think we'd both rather perfer something like chocolate or maybe even brownie bits or something along those lines... I know he'd be all for Dove chocolate (we're both big fans of Dove). Maybe wrap the dove in cellophane bags with ribbons in our color scheme, that's a pretty good idea, and probably not too expensive either!

Elana, those tins are adorable!!!

And thanks, Tim!! That was super sweet of you!!

Thanks everyone for the great suggestions! They're really helpful! Wedding planning is no easy task...

and u can freeze those candy hearts so they will be fresh for the wedding.
read your reply to us. here's a thought whether you use a live plant for the centerpiece or an arrangement-love tea roses by the way-idea?-place an initial under one of each table (under a chair-one initial per table). tell the person whoever has the initial taped under the chair gets to take the centerpiece home with them.

Skully - Those are awesome.

Someone before mentioned the colored nuts or what have you, I think they were thinking of Jordan Almonds maybe? Those arent bad. I think that chocolate would be the best bet, but I dont think the Valentines candy would last as someone else mentioned.

I know that on the M&M's website they have some recipes for matching chocolates with wines, as well as some ideas for pressed flowers, money tree, and other chocolate recipes.

M&M's Wedding Ideas
This is actually a way to order M&M's in different colors, specifically with Weddings in mind.

NO - I do not work for M&M's... Mars... or what have you
In fact - After being spoiled by a friend with some English chocolate - I would rather have a flake or a mint aero (OMG) than a bag of M&M's ANY day of the week... MMmmmmm .... malteasers...

http://www.wonderhowto.com/how-to-cr...-favor-419350/

i have seen bubble containers with names of people getting married and dates
matchbooks, glasses, decorative soaps, little votive candles, practically anything with their names engraved on it...doesn't have to be edible.
