So one of my greatest achievments to date, aspirating on a pill!
well it wasnt a whole pill and the first bout of water didn't get it down than i took another swig than i started coughing....so who knows if i was able to cough it up or not.....only me would do something like that, can't even swallow a pill right!

Do you normally have trouble swallowing pills racee? Are you still coughing? With all the liquid meds for kids, many kids end up being adults who are afraid to swallow pills. I made sure both my girls could swallow pills. I hope you didn't truly aspirate the pill and if you don't feel the coughing is getting better, you should go get checked. I hope you feel better.

I remember the first time I tried to swallow a pill. I think I was probably close to my teens, and it was a relatively small one. But I was convinced I was going to choke to death--but finally got it down. Now I can take a whole big handful in one fell swoop. (Okay, no snide remarks about my having a big mouth!) Occasionally I still get a bit choked, too.

Yes, make sure it doesn't seem to be down in your lung!
Thanks for this!

<sigh> i normally don't have problems with big pills but the msalls ones i do ..they just don't seem to wanna go down and having to take many mouth fulls of water than thats where i start to choke.
i think i saw somewhere they have candy coated pills(sugar coated) for kids now?
and dissolvable.

I like the candy coated ones too!

Sometimes I battle to take my tabs too. I was never able to take pills when I was around 12 years old. Then I practice with small grapes that I could eventually squash in my throat, and it became easier with practice

I was never able to take pills when I was young.....it wasn't until I was much older that I was able to get them down my throat.

Who would figure that I would end up OD'ing on hands full of pills later on........think it's a mental thing now, but I am back to not being able to swallow pills again.

Know that when I was in the medical hospital 6 years ago being treated for anorexia, they did tests on my swallowing & it showed a narrowing in my throat......that was after my neck fusion surgery also.....& all the OD's were before the neck fusion also.....not sure if that surgery had an effect on narrowing my esophagus.....but it's very difficult to swallow even the smallest pill....forget about the large ones completely.

Doesn't bother me.....until I need to take a med for something. My pain medication is in the form of a patch....so don't need to swallow any pills for that......started on the patches at the time of the neck fusion surgery.....much better than pills any day.

Wow, I guess I was pretty young when I could first swallow pills. I think it has to do with the fact that all the liquid medicines I took tasted terrible, and with the infections I had I was on alot of medications...

I think I was, oh, about six when I was able to take pills.

What I really hate is when a medication makes me burp and I get acid in my sinuses.

I agree with wingin'it. I really hate taking Mucinex because it always get stuck and they taste horrible. And I can take one, but not anymore or I choke.
