"Yes, there is now a Terrapin eating team, with a constitution, a staff adviser and more than 40 members, along with a motto: "Feed the Turtle." Coming soon: Eatin' Terps uniforms with elastic waistbands and a turtle mascot clutching a piece of pizza?"

This is a glorification of gluttony and excess. I just find it disgusting, I don't see the funny side at all.
Given the familiar health effects of poor diet and obesity, educational institutions should not be encouraging this by giving them team status. Will they allow chain-smoking teams next?

Same here. My digestive system recently shut down, and I suffered from severe dehydration. It took four bags of IV fluids in an attempt to jump start and slowly wake up my stomach. If not, a feeding tube would have been inserted.

After what I've just been through, I'm even more disgusted with food competitions and the total disregard and disrespect for one's digestive system. If your digestive system is destroyed, every other organ WILL be effected and the consequences are NOT worth ANY trophy or pat on the back from ANYONE.

Stuffiing one's face should not be considered a talent or profession.
Thanks for this!

Competitive eating is disgusting. Decandent. Illustration of our hedonism.

Maybe the Competitive Eaters should get together and cook something up with the Rat Breeders. The Eaters can take care of the "runts," and the Breeders can keep their gems and jewels!
