Hello fellow Psych Central Forum members and guests.

I decided to posit the following question here with the hope of possibly learning more about everyone (and everyone learning about each other with regard to this topic).

If you could be ANY type of animal (be it of the sky, earth, or water-based), what would you be and why?

Thanks for your participation.

My answer would be a "GREY WOLF" ( a.k.a. "Canis Lupus" ).

Reason: Wolves tend to be viewed as loners, yet they have a strong familial hierarchy as part of their pack structure.

I can empathize with the loner identification, yet, part of me yearns for the strong familial bonds of which I lacked while growing up.

Take care,

-vertebrae-

Thanks for this!

I havn't a clue, but if I had to guess anything I think I would be a horse. They are beautiful, can run, have beautiful legs,....sleek, loved and usually taken care of...Ah, maybe a wild horse, free, fast, sleek, beautiful.....!

I would have to say I think I would be an owl, flying alone beneath the night sky.

Interesting question Vertebrae!

I'd definitely want to come back as an animal owned by someone in our household or the members have met in the 'Pets' PC forum for the care of their critters. I admire all animals but not everyone revers and values them the same, caring for them and preserving their environment in the wild and domestically.

I especially admire dogs, horses, and tigers/lions, equally, so one of these:

-Dogs for the ability to unconditionally love, sensitivity, agility, and resilience.
-Horses for being majestic, a powerful athlete yet so graceful, their speed and sensitivity, a natural pack critter, and desire to please.
-Tiger /Lion for being majestic as well, a loner (Tiger) or pack animal (Lion), able to fend for themselves, ability to blend in nature, incredible power with agility, the females nurturing sides, incredible abilities to swim and run yet knowing when it is time to nap, protective natures, and resilience and adaptation to an ever changing and shrinking environment.

I would love to be able to have all of these qualities.... may I always unconditionally love, be sensitive, be graceful, agile, able to fit-in at times with a group but independent enough to stand on my own, be able to fend for myself with independence while not losing my nurturing side, know when it is time to keep going and when it is time to rest, and be resilient and adaptable to changes that come my way. I can only hope to achieve these things in my own life.

Things to learn from the critters.
Thanks for this!

I'd be a dog because they always seem happy and are loved by people. Not to mention sometimes they are treated better than people.

I love many types of animals, dogs, cats (big and small), and horses to name a few, but there's one in particular I admire, the elephant. Yes, an elephant. They have a family hierarchy, they're incredibly loyal and protective, highly intelligent, extremely emotional (one of the few animals that exhibits their grief and sorrow), can communicate over long distances, and herds are all female. The fact that herds are female in itself is one that I really admire!

No question. I'd be a mongrel cat belonging to my wife. This is actually something to which I've devoted quite a bit of thought. I'd be happy to accept the limited intelligence of cats. I'm not at all that sure that human capacities lead in any way to happiness or satisfaction. It seems to be much more possible for a cat to live "in the now" than for people. I think I'd enjoy that very much. Take care!

Ygrec, as a cat lover, I must say I take exception to stating that cats have limited intelligence. All the cats I've ever owned were highly intelligent. The beauty of cats is the fact that they don't necessarily want their "human pets" to know just how intelligent they really are.

One answer: Horse

You get to eat for 18 hours a day, only work for 1 hour a day. Sleep when you want. Have someone care for you and watch over you around the clock. Your caretaker generally cares about your health and other issues more than his/her own.

You are majestic and gracious. You helped to write history. You saved lives. You are able to help humans, and are a companion to many. You are a health-care practitioner, you can see straight through humans' emotions. You are intelligent and quick to learn...

And the list goes on.

MissBelle ...

How about a combo of your choices: Maybe a horse-giraffe hybrid or a giraffe-horse hybrid?

A "Horaffe" or a "Girorse"?

I would be a wolf. Wolfs are social animals that rely on their "family" (pack) yet at the same time they can be solitary creatures. That defines me pretty well. I need the support of my family and friends but yet I am a bit of a loner.

Does that include Jellyfish? Snails? Wombats? Platypuses? Sea
Urchins? And the ever-dreaded "Killer Rabbit" of Monty Python and the Holy Grail fame? Hmmm.

I would like to be a cat in my next life (if there is one, who knows). I have been so lucky to have the loveable chubby cuddler Oreo that I want to be just like him!

I have a couple answers.
1. a bird appeals to me - always wanted to fly.
2. would love to be my dog Bella - she lives a royal life.
3. would like to be a bed bug - hide in the cozy bed of my enemy and annoy the crap out of them all night long lol.
