RIP to those who have lost their lives in the latest earthquake in Christchurch, New Zealand.

The 1st earthquake was bigger on the richtor scale, but was 33km deep, this one was only 5km deep.

The 1st was also at 3am in the morning, this one 2pm.

Im so thankful that my friends and family down there are all safe.

So far, 65 confirmed dead.

RIP to you all.

Read the news of this quake earlier on, before any numbers of those sadly lost were reported...very sorry to hear of the fatalities. My heart goes out to you, addipaddi, and your fellow New Zealanders. I'll be keeping you in my thoughts.

My friend and co-worker is vacationing in NZ with her family right now!! I'm not sure where exactly, but I pray they are okay!!

She's a Nurse...and a Missionary!! I'm praying her and her family came through and I like to think of them helping those in need in the city. It helps keep my thoughts positive for them.

I hope to hear from her soon!!

Please say prayers?

Saw this news on the bbc site today. To all those Kiwi's who are on the boards:
My thoughts are with those who lost loved ones and their familes.

On a slightly different strand, my thoughts are also with those who lost loved ones in Libya, where they are fighting to remove a corrupt regime.

We are just over 30 hours into it, and it is once again night, dark and cold. There are so many people trapped and we do not know their status. I am lucky that everyone I know is safe and well, even if one cousin is without a home any more. Thank you so much for all the posts of support, we may be physically isolated from the rest of the world but you all seem so much closer through the cyberwaves . I hope that anyone else with friends or family in Chch has positive news about them too. And thank you to all the nations who have sent help over to us, we really do appreciate it.

76 bodies have been recovered so far. over 300+ still missing so it is highly likely there will be alot more deaths. =(

We're all with you, Kiwis! We know you're really suffering, down on the south island. You'll come back, come back good and strong! Just make sure your building codes are as absolutely up-to-date and effective as possible! I don't know who's the world leader in such things may be but it really should be you folks! God bless you all.

Aw, people, this is just not fair. As if fair matters in such things. I'm from earthquake country myself. There is a certain rattle of glass in the windows that never, ever can be blamed on a passing truck...
