Hello, rapidcycla. Fortunately, I still do quite well in the reading department.

When I am maniac or depressed, my ability to focus on the words is impaired. I switch things and cannot concentrate and miss the meanings. I have to be careful of this during these times, knowing that I have to devote extra time to readings and materials so that I am extra careful with interpretations. Frustrating but have accepted it now.
Have you ever met with anyone to discuss a learning disability as a possibility, that there might be help to turn things around when you read. This also helped me when this was discovered in the mists of everything else; the MI issues compounded it and also disguised it for me. There are techniques to help with processing the characters and minimize the frustration. |

I don't have much of an issue with reading. What I really have problems with is writing; my mind goes faster than my hands and I'll start skipping words.

2 senses of elision
Sense 1 elision -- (omission of a sound between two words (usually a vowel and the end of one word or the beginning of the next)) omission, deletion -- (any process whereby sounds or words are left out of spoken words or phrases) Sense 2 exception, exclusion, elision -- (a deliberate act of omission; ``with the exception of the children, everyone was told the news'' ) omission -- (neglecting to do something; leaving out or passing over something) |
