Yesterday night, i was all sad and depressed so i decided to sit down by the window.
And then i saw something i couldn't believe. A man slapping an elderly continuously, and the elderly person was seated at the chair it seemed he couldn't move his hands were shaking and it seemed he was begging to stop.

I felt like shouting or at least try to stop it i raised my hand don't know what i was thinking the man who was beating him saw me at the exact moment came out at his veranda and stared at me i kept staring hard cursing him cause that was the only thing i could do. then he went away i kept a watch after that to see how the elderly person was doing or if the horrible neighbor continuous to do something. But im not sure only keeping a watch would help. . . . what else can i do. . . . i don't even know them. . . .

Try calling the cops next time? Although, that can make tension between you and the neighbors worse. But, it's the right thing to do, if you can.

Is this man a caregiver to this elderly man - I hope not. I think you should call the police. Elder abuse is something that happens all to often and rarely gets reported. If this is a hired person, maybe family members don't even know about this. You did well but I'm worried about next time.

Elder abuse is a crime as well. I think it's a mandatory report issue for healthcare professionals.

You could try reporting it anonymously, either to the police or to the department of elderly services. If you said you were walking nearby on the street or visiting a friend in the area when you saw it the abuser wouldn't know it was you who reported it.

You need to report it. The abuser might in future take more care to have the curtains shut, and the abuse could continue without anyone else being aware of it, other than the victim.

Definitely report it and call the cops next time you see it happen. Hopefully, it won't happen again!
